**Role summary**:
As assistant controller, you will work alongside the financial controller to ensure financial information/reporting and appropriate controls are in place and maintained at all times.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Assist Controller with maintaining internal controls, managing the general ledger, preparation of monthly financial statements
- Assist Controller in maintaining month end procedures and working papers
- Oversight and management of accounts payables
- Ensuring accounts payable is accurate by checking status with vendors that payments are made and accounts are up to date
- Support Controller with accurate financial information for financial review meetings
- Reconciliation of bank accounts
- Preparing monthly reports for the bank
- Assisting in year-end review engagements
- Posting necessary accounting entries
- Create reports and provide statistical information to the management team
- Respond to vendor and customer inquiries
- Ensure accurate posting of foreign exchange currency
- Improvement and oversight of automated processes for accounts payable and accounts receivable as well as current automated processes (ensure items are being recorded correctly)
- Provide NetSuite guidance on process execution across all functions and products
- Organize and file paper/paperless documents and invoices in a timely manner
- Ensure all transactions are posted in the correct period for month end and year end close
- Review vendor statements and reconcile to any outstanding invoices and payments
- Process payments on a weekly basis and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
- Monitor discount opportunities, scheduling and preparing of multiple methods of payments
- Maintain historical records
- Other various duties as reasonably required
**Qualifications**
- Post secondary education Diploma/Degree (Accounting) - required
- 2+ years of accounting experience (public practice/industry) - required
- Experience with MS Excel, Netsuite and Business Vision would be an asset
- Works effectively with mínimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Good time management and communication skills
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must have the ability to work under deadline pressure
- Must be proactive regarding vendor invoices to avoid processing delays
