**Description**:
Under the responsibility of the Coordinator - Permits and certificates and reporting to the Senior Technician, the Technician - Planning and zoning is responsible for the activities of his or her section. The technician analyses requests for permits and certificates and makes sure they comply with existing planning by-laws. The technician assists with the preparation of the agenda for meetings of the Planning Advisory Committee as well as the follow-up of some of the files, including the drafting of legal documents.

**General responsibilities and goals**:
**The jobholder’s main duties are as follows**:

- Interprets the municipal by-laws relevant to the Planning Department.
- Verifies and analyzes requests for building permits and authorization certificates to make sure they comply with the planning by-laws.
- Analyses subdivision plans.
- Communicates with developers, professionals, contractors and residents to discuss their projects and provide them with information about the various steps to be followed before and during a project.
- Keeps department files up-to-date.
- Analyzes localization certificates.
- Prepares, signs and issues building permits and certificates of authorization certificates.
- Prepares drawings and sketches as required by computer aided software.
- Prepares special reports.
- Verifies and analyzes requests for cadastral operations.
- Carries out any other related tasks.

**Job requirements**:

- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
- Knowledge of the Office suite and Freehand.

**Schedule**:
35 hours per week

For the period between Thanksgiving and the first (1rst) Monday of May: Monday to Friday inclusively, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., minus one (1) hour for lunch.

For the period between the first (1rst) Monday of May and Thanksgiving: Monday to Thursday inclusively, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., minus forty-five (45) minutes for lunch; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon
