Within Student Life, the cluster of Student Life Programs & Services (SLP&S), supports students as they achieve personal, academic, career and civic goals. We engage students throughout their learning and development with the following units: Academic Success, Accessibility Services, Career Exploration & Education, Centre for Community Partnerships, Clubs & Leadership Development, Housing, Indigenous Student Services and First Nations House, Mentorship & Peer Programs, Multi-faith Centre, Orientation, Student Success, Transition & Engagement and TCard Services. Together with staff, faculty, students, alumni, employers and community partners, we provide an integrated and coherent path to success that reflects our students' diversity.

Career Exploration & Education creates curricular and co-curricular learning experiences at the intersection of career, equity, and wellbeing in partnership with student, recent graduate, tri campus, and employer communities. Taking an ecosystem approach, we work intentionally to design and deliver career learning experiences that ensure students and recent graduates have the opportunity to thrive in their careers. We hold the vision that University of Toronto students and alumni experience and contribute to a more equitable and just world of work. We are seeking an Assistant Director, Career Education with an educator skillset, a working knowledge of career development, experience with identity and hope-centered approaches to career learning, and a collaborative and compassionate approach to leadership.

Reporting to the Director, Career Exploration & Education the Assistant Director, Career Education champions the strategy and delivery of services related to career education, career peer learning and support, and academic and career integration. The Assistant Director guides and leads the work of colleagues within the Career Education portfolio whose objective is to support student’s self-directed learning related to career exploration, career decision-making, employment and further education preparation. This portfolio assists students to reflect on and integrate their academic discipline, interests, abilities, experiences, and values in the development of their career aspirations in an ever-changing world.
Along with the Director and other unit colleagues, the Assistant Director will ensure that Career Exploration & Education provides a wide variety of in-person and virtual educational, experiential, interactive and reflective opportunities that facilitates student learning and increases agency as they find meaning and purpose, as they define it, and develop career aptitude and skills for lifelong success and well-being.

A Master’s degree in education with a focus on adult learning, student affairs, or career development; or degree in counselling, human resource management, or a related discipline is required or any equivalent combination of graduate-level ed
