**Position Overview**

The Payroll & Benefits Manager will oversee the organization’s processing of full-cycle payroll and administration of benefits for multiple companies located in Canada and Internationally. This individual will ensure pay is processed in a timely & accurate manner and in compliance with government regulations and will ensure maintenance & administration of benefits. This role reports to the Director of Finance.

**Responsibilities**
- Responsible for full-cycle bi-weekly hourly & salary payroll for approximately 300 employees using ADP in a complex environment for multiple entities.
- Responsible for manual monthly payroll for various international locations; Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa & UK (currently outside of ADP).
- Assist with ADP implementation for international payroll.
- Ensure payroll is accurate & timely; investigate & respond with urgency to discrepancies, inclusive of all statutory deductions.
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end payroll analysis and reporting from within ADP; create & write reports within ADP to assist with review & to support balances on financial statement (Eg. pay period vs. pay period summary reporting by EE, vacation accrual, etc.).
- Responsible for reconciling benefit statements to payroll(Extended Health, Dental, MSP, Life, LTD); ensure monthly deductions per payroll agree to monthly benefits billing/statement.
- Responsible for non-routine payroll functions (T4 preparation, electronic ROE generation, benefits reporting, government reporting, garnishments, retroactive payments, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with all government laws and regulations with respect to payroll and benefits.
- Ensure that we leverage technology to help administer latest payroll techniques and methodologies to achieve greatest efficiencies and business outcomes; continuous process improvement attitude.
- You are the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all payroll & benefits related inquiries while reinforcing working relationships with staff.
- Identify & drive areas for process improvement working collaboratively with HR and Finance.
- Educate employees to have good basic understanding of procedures and systems required to facilitate accurate payroll/benefit processing and administration.
- Partnering with HR, ensure compliance, and administrate the leave programs, including but not limited to: Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Workers Compensation, and Leave of Absence.
- Update employees on impactful &/or relevant changes to payroll and benefits as they arise.
- Oversee maintenance of employee personnel files.
- Calculate & remit WCB quarterly.
- Calculate & remit WSIB quarterly.
- Calculate & remit EHT quarterly.
- Ad-hoc tasks, projects as they arise.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by management.

**Qualification and Skills**
- Diploma, degree, certification in a related discipline that includes studies in Human Resources, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
- PCP or CPM designation would be an asset (or working towards obtaining designation).
- Minimum 5 years experience processing complex payroll(s) independently in a senior role.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum 5 years experience processing complex payroll(s) independently in a senior role.
- International payroll experience will be an asset.
- Possesses expert knowledge of legislative requirements as they impact payroll & benefits.
- Knowledge and understanding of human resources principles and concepts and basic accounting.
- Strong aptitude for systems and data management, specifically, ADP and Microsoft Office.
- Experience processing full-cycle payroll in a complex environment.
- Canadian payroll experience.
- Exposure to international payroll preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
