Our robust Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility program continues to grow, and has been recognized by the United Nations and many other organizations for our leadership. **ABOUT THE ROLE** This position is responsible for conducting screening reviews of administrative penalties and rendering decisions as part of the adjudicative process within the Administrative Penalty Tribunal (APT) program and in accordance with bylaws, legislation, polices and procedures. **WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING** - Conducts online and/or in person screening reviews in accordance with the Region's APT bylaw, legislation, polices and procedures. - Reviews all relevant documents including penalty orders, images taken by the enforcement system, and submitted statements and/or supporting documents. - Renders decisions through exercising the Power of Decision in accordance with the Region's APT bylaw and relevant legislation to confirm, vary, or set aside administrative penalties. - Prepares and distributes written decisions. - Summarizes all meeting notes and inputs into the case management system. - Reviews and responds to time extension requests in accordance with the Region's APT bylaw, legislation, polices and procedures. - Provides information to the public concerning Region by-laws, policies, regulations, and APT processes and procedures. - Responds to customer enquiries directly and/or provides information to other internal staff either verbally or in writing. - Ensures adherence to the Region’s policies, guidelines and bylaws and manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards. - Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards. - Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards. - Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives. **WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR** - Successful completion of a College Diploma in Paralegal Studies, Paralegal Court and Tribunal Agent Program, Law Clerk or a related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience. - Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check. - Demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of applicable legislation, bylaws, and adjudicative procedures as they relate to administrative penalties. - Demonstrated ability in the Region’s corporate core competencies. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to listen effectively, summarize information, and provide clear and concise written decisions. - Demonstrated skills in providing excellent customer service including the ability to diffuse diffic
