Tamarack Environmental is a consulting firm that works alongside Indigenous Nations across Canada to support engagement, seek environmental protections, and maximize Indigenous participation/benefits in major development projects. Our work focuses on ensuring proponents and crown governments adequately accommodate and respect the unique rights, laws, and customs of our clients. Through meaningful involvement in the regulatory process, we assist communities in asserting jurisdiction around major development projects including mines, pipelines, transmission lines, energy projects and roads.

We’re looking for a **Intermediate Wildlife Biologist **to fill a full-time permanent position:
**Responsibilities**:

- Project management and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams
- Design and manage environmental monitoring and environmental training programs with First Nations
- Technical review and analysis of environmental assessments, impact assessments, permits, monitoring plans, and other technical documents is considered an asset
- Preparing proposals, workplans, and budgets to support ongoing and upcoming projects
- Build and maintain strong positive relationships with existing and potential clients
- Communicating effectively with internal and external parties
- Data quality assurance and quality control
- Report writing
- Other tasks as required

**Requirements**:

- University Degree or College Diploma in relevant field or equivalent (e.g. Biology, environmental science, ecology)
- At least 4 years of professional experience
- Ability to develop and follow detailed methodology for environmental monitoring and environmental research projects
- Excellent technical writing and analytical skills, including experience with preparing technical reports and communicating complex issues in plain language
- Responding quickly and empathetically to client needs
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Thrives in a team setting, accepts responsibility and works to deadlines
- Ability to work remotely and independently
- **Must be able and willing to travel across Canada and to northern and remote communities**

**Asset Qualifications**:

- Experience designing and conducting environmental monitoring field programs for water, fish, plants, and/or other wildlife
- Experience working with Indigenous communities
- Experience working on Indigenous Knowledge Studies
- Mapping experience (e.g. ArcGIS or similar)
- Understanding of Canadian federal, provincial, and/or territorial regulatory processes and permitting
- Experience writing technical peer reviews and/or Indigenous Knowledge research
- Other languages (e.g. Ojibway, Cree, Mi’gmaq, Dene, French, etc.)
