**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Director or designate, the Coordinator, MHSU Data Quality provides support to Mental Health and Substance Use services. The position provides support with day-to-day operations and special projects, and assists with MHSU program-related data collection systems, audits and other monitoring and evaluation projects. This includes research, data collection and analysis, database administration, assessment, preparing reports and documents, as well as assisting with planning and monitoring activities, developing policies, procedures, and templates, maintaining confidential files, and managing departmental logistics.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a two year Business Administration Diploma or a related field and three years' experience with business processes in a large organization, including a minimum of two years' experience in heath information management and/or data collection system management.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Previous experience in a large healthcare organization is an asset.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access.
- Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment, including working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication with all levels of a large organization. Ability to produce concise, well worded letters, reports, creative presentations, and other documentation in a professional manner.
- Ability to be tactful, diplomatic, confidential, and to recognize sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and statistical skills (both qualitative and quantitative).
- Problem solving skills, including the ability to research, analyze, interpret, and summarize issues.
- Ability to work both independently with mínimal direction and as part of a team.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships at all levels of a large organization and with external contacts from a variety of backgrounds.
- Ability to anticipate and respond to changing priorities or unanticipated opportunities.
- Ability to adapt and acquire new skills quickly.
