We are looking for an **External Engagement Lead** who is **an expert on the Canadian Market Access and policymaking landscape, passionate about patients **and** a strong team player** to join us in our **APEX (Access, Pricing and External Engagement)** team, remotely based in Montreal or Quebec City, QC, Canada.

**About the role**

The External Engagement Lead is a patient engagement, market access policy and government relations professional who deeply understands the Canadian healthcare ecosystem and has proven track record of driving external engagement activities to shape policy making and achieve concrete change that positively impacts patient access to medicines and quality of care. In this role, you will be responsible for leading UCB’s External Engagement Committee, establishing priorities and multi-stakeholder integrated engagement plans to ensure alignment to company long-term objectives and aiming to position UCB as a preferred partner for external constituencies.

You will be the direct point of contact with national and regional Patient Groups, Government Officials, Policy Makers, and Pharma trade associations, while coordinating engagement efforts with different internal functions that interact with other external stakeholders.

**Who you’ll work with**

You will be part of the APEX (Access, Pricing and External Engagement) Team and will interact with a range of internal functions, including but not limited to the Leadership Team, Medical, Regulatory, Commercial, Legal, as well as regional and global colleagues in APEX, policy and other areas.

**What you’ll do**
- Lead UCB’s multidisciplinary External Engagement Committee to align on priorities and ensure an integrated & coordinated multi-stakeholder External Engagement plan and its execution.
- Enable the External Engagement Committee to reinforce the organizational mindset on patient centricity and a collective stakeholder approach to achieve patient access to best possible care, with UCB as preferred partner.
- Direct point of contact with key national and regional Patient Groups, Government Officials and Policy Makers, building and maintaining long-term, trusting relationships and partnerships.
- Participate in and engage with relevant pharma trade associations, synthesizing the insights they bring and contributing to relevant working groups including active support for their insight and position development.
- Interacts with regional and global market access, policy, and external engagement colleagues at UCB to ensure alignment between local plans and priorities and regional and global focus areas and objectives.
- Plan and manage budget and resource allocation for activities, with clearly articulated rationale and expected impact.

**Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills**
- Bachelor’s degree as minimum, Master’s preferred.
- Extensive experience engaging with Patient Groups, Policy Makers and Government Officials.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with ability to work with tact and diplomacy across teams and cultures to align teams per agreed strategic direction.
- Familiarity and prior experience with launch preparation, and integrated business acumen.
- Proven track record of driving stakeholder engagement initiatives in the pharmaceutical context, creating value and obtaining positive impact for patients.
- Bi-lingual (English/French) preferred but not mandatory.

Il ou elle possède une compréhension approfondie de l’écosystème canadien des soins de santé et a fait ses preuves en matière de mise en œuvre d’initiatives d’engagement externe qui visent à influencer l’élaboration de politiques et à réaliser des changements concrets ayant des effets positifs sur l’accès des patients aux médicaments et sur la qualité des soins.

Le ou la titulaire de ce poste aura la responsabilité de diriger le comité de l’engagement externe d’UCB, d’établir des priorités et des plans d’engagement intégrés faisant intervenir plusieurs parties prenantes afin de garantir la conformité avec les objectifs à long terme, et de positionner UCB en tant que partenaire de choix pour les parties prenantes externes.
