Job Summary:
- and post-production duties including incorporation of updates, draft conversion, versioning, translation and storage of electronic content. Responsibilities require liaising with all levels of product development, standards development, product strategy, sales, certification and external vendors. Participates in the delivery of the standards and commercial services plans in co-operation with standards development staff, committee members, and other commercial services team members, keeping the Team Leaders informed of advances or delays.
**Responsibilities**:
- Acts as the initial point of contact for project submissions from Standards Development, translation reviewers, Commercial Managers and/or external vendors. Responsible for ensuring electronic files submitted to Product Development are complete, accurate and follows procedures. Ensures accurate creation and setup within Alfresco content management system. Ensures that metadata and file naming conventions are acceptable within CSA guidelines. Provides corrective guidance where necessary.- Responsible for pre-publication quality checks of source files and PDFs.- Product Development Coordinator - Editorial acts as departmental representative on Second Level Review (SLR) Committee to assess accreditation compliance and determine if the post-ballot draft is ready to proceed to publication.- Communicates with external resources, system vendors, production resources, printer, committee members, and other Standards Development Organizations.- Responsible for the support of XML templates/stylesheets. Provides input on requirements to the XML vendor via the Product Platform Manager, tests and approves the resulting solutions.- As assigned, responsible for support of CSA’s terminology database and translation memory through the coordination and maintenance of translated products using Trados and Trados Groupshare software.- Responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of electronic files by performing batch process to prepare final PDF files, ensures print quality as well as compatibility with current digital rights management tools, validates and uploads to the download directory.- Prepares print specs for all new published and revised products and uploads final documents to the print provider via FTP.- As required, maintains published documents to reflect any changes during their lifecycle e.g. Reaffirmations, updates and Retro NSC.- Performs post-production analysis of published products and manages document conversion with internal or external resources for subsequent development work.- Acts as a problem solver for discrepancies, errors, and omissions in a variety of processes and recommends corrective action in order to ensure optimum efficiency of product delivery. Willing and able to work on special projects from time to time as assigned by the Team Lead.- Takes initiative to recommend and implement processes improvement recommendations with mínimal input from management.- Performs similar duties and special assignments as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-year Computer Programming Post-Secondary or equivalent diploma required.- 3 years of experience in electronic publishing or desktop publishing required.- Intermediate level knowledge of Acrobat, PDF, XML Technology, Arbortext, Mathflow/MathML required.- Experience in Graphic Arts or Graphic Design an asset.-
- Strong team player, attention to detail and proven independent problem-solving skills- Working knowledge of all processes including sales and distribution and materials management processes is an asset.- English and French proficiency is an asset.
