**Scope of position**:
**The Environmental Services Manager (ESM) is responsible for the effective functioning, upkeep**, **and physical appearance, furniture and equipment in the Home. The ESM will perform maintenance checks/audits, minor renovations, minor repairs, and various other tasks within the scope of this position. The ESM will coordinate and/or liaise with external service providers (e.g.: landscaping, snow removal, trade specialists) to ensure completion and quality of service. The ESM will ensure compliance with all levels of legislation.**

**Additional Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensures safety of employees, guests and residents by regularly maintaining equipment, infrastructure and furniture and by providing general upkeep to the physical site and its large systems;
- As an integral member of the site leadership team, participates in decision-making particularly in matters related to health and safety;
- Supervises laundry and housekeeping team members and/or maintains contracts for these services;
- Sources and orders services/supplies focusing on obtaining the highest quality for the most reasonable price;
- Maintains the appearance and upkeep of the home by facilitating regular painting and decorating plans and ensure all furniture and fixtures are operational and in good repair;
- Schedules, conducts and completes regular preventative maintenance activities;
- Chairs or participates as a member of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee;
- Conducts regular fire and emergency preparedness drills;
- Plans and implements a regular daily, weekly, monthly and yearly schedule of preventative maintenance activities to ensure the Home and equipment are safe and in good working order;
- Provides minor building, electrical, plumbing and equipment repair services to ensure the optimum functioning of the home and equipment - coordinates with external specialized service providers for support as required;
- Ensures all vacant suites are in lease-ready condition at all times and within 5-7 days of vacancy;
- Identifies and investigates physical deficiencies and equipment malfunctions and takes the appropriate corrective action;
- Receives and stores all non-kitchen related deliveries;
- Reports all incidents that require disciplinary action, including suspension and termination, to the General Manager;
- Plans, organizes, evaluates and controls a program for inventory control of supplies and equipment for the Home ;
- Is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling and evaluating the use of supplies needed efficient and effective operation of the Home;
- Is responsible for interpreting and implementing current environmental service policies.

- Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations;
- Understand the lines of authority, flexibility and communications within the Company and uses them effectively to meet his/her responsibilities;
- Applies knowledge of current relevant legislation in meeting both professional and managerial responsibilities;
- Demonstrates accountability for own actions;
- Ability to prioritizes and manages time effectively;
- Is aware of employees and supervisor’s responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures;
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy.
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, guests and residents;
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.

**Qualifications**

**Education/Experience**:

- Extensive experience as a maintenance worker;
- Demonstrated skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and equipment maintenance;
- Certificate from a program in general maintenance (an asset).

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Ability to multitask;
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to satisfy conflicting demands;
- Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
- Knowledge and ability to operate all fire equipment;
- Customer service oriented;
- Physical ability to perform the functions of the job.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and carry heavy trays and items

**Special Requirements**:

- Must be willing to be on-call and carry a cellular phone or pager;
- Must be willing to work the hours necessary to ensure the effective operation of the home;
- Must be prepared to respond to emergency situations.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
