Together we are more than 5,000 dedicated faculty, librarians and staff supporting the University of Victoria’s diverse academic programs, world-class research and commitment to civic engagement. **The salary range for this position is**: - **Recruitment range: $65,860- $72,607** starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement. - **Performance range: starting salary to max of $85,633** is available through annual performance increases. - Job Summary The Science Venture Manager of Programs reports to the Director, STEM Youth Outreach. The Manager of Programs role is multi-faceted and is responsible for overseeing program delivery and staff supervision. These areas include program promotion, safety procedures, staff scheduling, curriculum development, and parent engagement. During the summer camps programs, the Manager of Programs supervises: 2-4 Student Coordinators (Camp, Outreach); up to 30 full-time Instructors, and 60 volunteers. Evening and weekend work will be required. Peak programing is in the spring/summer months (April - September) when workshops/camps are in operation. - Job Requirements This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (science, engineering, education) plus 1 year of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. - Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:(Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment. - Demonstrated experience working with children and youth in educational camps and/or recreational settings. - Demonstrated leadership, supervisory skills, and the ability to inspire a team. - Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills. - Experience working with various social media platforms and how each network can be optimally applied in different scenarios. - Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences. - Ability to manage and collaborate successfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds. - Ability to build and maintain positive relationships. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. - Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Experience in maintaining confidential and sensitive information. - Experience with event planning and coordination. - Familiarity and knowledge of the BC Science and ADST curriculum is an asset. - Familiarity with WHMIS, Lab Safety, Biosafety and UVic’s Hazardous Waste Management system is an asset. - Other certifications: Occupational First Aid Level 3, Informed Trauma Response, Youth Inclusion Training would all be considered assets. **Territory Acknowledgement**:We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. **What UVic Offers**:To learn more click here.
