**Responsibilities**
- Provide preventative dental health education, preventative dental services, and perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties.
- Set up instruments and dental supplies, pass instruments to the Dentist during treatments, and assist the dental staff.
- Explain dental procedures, post-operative, and oral hygiene instructions.
- Prepare instruments for sterilization and ensure applicable equipment is functional
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Taking impressions, pouring and separating models and fabricating appliances such as whitening trays, sports guards.
**About you**
- Registered and/or certified as a Certified Dental Assistant with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals.
- Certified with The National Dental Assisting Examining Board of Canada (N.D.A.E.B).
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Knowledge of the current techniques and standards of preventive and restorative clinical practice.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and children.
- Comfortable working independently with mínimal direction, problem solve, take initiative, anticipate potential problems/conflicts, and take appropriate action.
- Deal tactfully and effectively with co-workers, and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- While previous dental assisting experience is preferred, newer grads welcome to apply.
