High River Hospital is a rural community located just south of Calgary providing Emergency, Obstetrical, Inpatient, Cancer Care, Long Term Care, and Surgical Services. The Surgical Processing Working Leader oversees, directs and supports the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) department to maintain standards of practice; act as a role model and consultant to MDR staff and as a liaison between the MDR, HRGH leaders and other departments; with ability to exercise judgement, professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion. The Working Leader must be able to work independently, adapt quickly to change, manage time and prioritize effectively. As the Working Leader, you will experience times of stress where you must remain focused, multitask with frequent interruptions and maintain attention to detail. A commitment to professional development and promoting a positive work environment including the support of students and new staff is expected. Key responsibilities are: Provide leadership to MDR staff including shift assignments and department workflows. Collaborate with Manager for operational activities including performance appraisals, time off requests; vacation planning approval; equipment maintenance, ordering and repair. Support recruitment and orientation of MDR staff. Oversee quality control, incident, and accident investigations. Ensure departmental compliance with established standards for surgical processing and documentation. Participate in day-to-day operational requirements including stock inventory and sterilization supplies. The Working Leader will perform other related duties as assigned.
Description:
As a Working Leader, you will orientate, support, and continuously coach Surgical Processors. This may include setting priorities according to shift and daily requirements within the department while ensuring policies/procedures and standards are adhered to. You will act as a formal resource to department staff and may act as a delegate for management on operational issues. As a Working Leader, you may assist the management team by providing input for yearly performance evaluations of surgical processing staff.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.
**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Current certification of Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Canadian Standards Association (CSA). Minimum 5 years surgical processor experience in an acute care setting with competence Medivators and Steris System 1E equipment competence and follow surgical processing best practice guidelines. Minimum 3 years of endoscopy reprocessing experience. Expertise in aseptic technique principles and universal precautions for prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). Critical thinker with the ability to follow through on issues/actions, plans/decisions employing the appropriate monitoring system to ensure follow through is undertaken. Effective communication skills. Commitment to team development and team building. Able to work under pressure while being flexible and able to balance the significant mental and visual demands to handle competing and frequently changing priorities within tight deadlines. Basic computer skills including Connect Care and MS programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. Experience with AHS’s change management processes. Recent staff scheduling experience of no less than 1 year. All Surgical Processors must have the physical ability to lift 18 kilograms (40lbs), push or pull carts weighing up to 114 kilograms (250lbs).
**Preferred Qualifications**:
