Unit/Project Description:
Located in the DeGroote School of Business, at the Ron Joyce Center in Burlington, the McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre (MDTRC) is designed as a knowledge hub to engage in three primary mandates focused on digital transformation: collaborative multidisciplinary research, outreach to academic and non-academic partners as well as training and development. MDTRC leverages neuroscience tools and techniques to provide a deep understanding of the user experience and how the use of technology impacts people, organizations and society.
Reporting to the Director, MTDRC, the Business Development Officer will cultivate and maintain partnerships and collaborations to expand the reach and influence of the MTDRC.
Job Summary:
Responsible for developing, enhancing and supporting collaborations between the centre, University, and public and private sector organizations. Promote the services of the centre to private and public sector organizations to generate partnerships for additional research funding. Responsible for the coordination of projects involving stakeholders and drafting research contracts and agreements. Requires thorough knowledge of business fundamentals and a scientific field.
Purpose and Key Functions:
- Engage faculty, staff, researchers and students to further the objectives of the centre.
- Collaborate with others to identify potential partners and facilitate additional research funding through partnerships.
- Promote the services of the centre to private and public sector organizations towards generating collaboration in the form of research contracts or research agreements.
- Work with faculty and staff at the centre to draft proposals for specific research engagements or funding opportunities.
- Create and deliver presentations on a variety of topics relating to the centre.
- Draft contracts/agreements/non-disclosures between the centre and external organizations
- Draft intellectual property agreements between the centre and external organizations.
- Assist in securing participants for research studies.
- Manage and coordinate projects and events involving internal and external partners including sourcing of required personnel.
- Provide recommendations on strategies to promote services of the centre.
- Create marketing and promotional materials and develop business plans.
- Help manage the centre’s Website and social media.
- Generate regular reports about the centre activities.
- Conduct market research in relation to the activities of the centre.
- Prepare and manage budgets for the centre.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Meet with various institutions and potential partners to promote the centre's services, and generate and manage partnerships.
Supervision:
- Provide functional guidance to others on an ongoing basis.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific field.
- Master's degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Requires 2 years of relevant experience.

- The successful applicant will have a proven track record in engaging diverse groups (industry, academia, community) for collaborative projects
- Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating partnership development and project management skills
