**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The Tool and Die Maker will work closely with the Toolroom Supervisor to complete tasks efficiently while following Omex’s Health and Safety policy. The main production is stamping, and MAG Welding and some assembly. The position repairs tools based on specifications provided on blueprints and other information such as run records and last off samples in order to achieve quality and productivity requirements.

DUTIES OF THE JOB:*
- Repairs dies and tools by determining the needs and methods, and implements as required.
- General stamping die maintenance including, but not limited to sharpening, polishing, replacing broken and worn parts and components.
- May be required to build and develop new dies/tools and implement product changes based on specifications provided by engineering.
- The position reviews die blueprints to check for functionality prior to assembly.
- Assembles tools, analyzing the design prior to inserting die in tryout press.
- Checks tool accuracy and production capabilities in the tryout press and troubleshoot problems to ensure a smooth transition to production.
- Troubleshooting tooling related issues to ensure consistent part quality.
- Directs the work of press operators when a tool is ready for production in order to learn about and trouble shoots any problems.
- Maintain a maintenance log on all dies.
- Continuously acquire new tool and die skills.
- Attend apprentice schooling and training courses as required.
- Work with other Tool & Die team members to meet tool room priorities and maintain Omex’s quality standard.

EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- Adhere to all quality procedures as required.
- Conduct and record all quality checks at regular intervals.
- Must be capable of identifying equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and all quality defects.
- Take corrective action to adjust machine and fix defects identified
- Ensure the machine is set up and production is running according to specification.
- Verify products are accurate and in conformance to all specifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor machine repairs as per machine specific instructions.
- Effectively perform all established machine cleaning procedures.
- Compliance to all company HR policies and procedures.
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees.
- Reporting any unsafe working conditions, practices, and work-related injuries immediately to his/her Supervisor or Manager.
- Any other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor and/or Manager.
- Work with minimum supervision.
- Communicate effectively while giving and receiving instructions accurately.

- Uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls.
- Frequently required to talk and hear in order to communicate with other employees.
- Required to climb, stoop, bend and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to push or pull with hands or arms, kneel or crouch.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40-60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to distinguish shades, colours, depth perception and peripheral vision

BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:*
- Tool and Die Maker Ticket (430A)
- At least two years of experience beyond certification in a similar industry.
- Must be able to read blueprints and schematics
- Basic knowledge of equipment and materials.
- Able to read and write basic English

- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize many different tasks and meet deadlines in a lean manufacturing environment.
