POSITION OVERVIEW:*
The Tool and Die apprentice will work closely with the Toolroom Lead Hand to complete tasks efficiently while following Omex’s Health and Safety policy. The apprentice will expand their knowledge to run machinery and equipment in the tool room and observe and/ or assist the tool and die makers in troubleshooting, sharpening, maintenance, and modifying dies.

DUTIES OF THE JOB:*
- General stamping die maintenance including, but not limited to sharpening, polishing, replacing broken and worn parts and components.
- Troubleshooting tooling related issues to ensure consistent part quality.
- Maintain a maintenance log on all dies.
- Continuously acquire new tool and die skills.
- Attend apprentice schooling and training courses as required.
- Work with other Tool & Die team members to meet tool room priorities and maintain Omex’s quality standard.

BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:*
- Enrolled in a Tool and Die Apprentice Program.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of equipment and materials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

ASSETS:*
- Mechanical background is considered an asset.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize many different tasks and meet deadlines in a lean manufacturing environment.
- A motivated individual who aspires to obtain their Tool and Die Ticket within a reasonable time frame.
