Assistant General Manager - Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager
**The role is responsible for**: The assistant general manager (AGM) helps the general manager to ensure that day-to-day business operations are running smoothly, and that our guests are having a memorable experience. The assistant manager will assist the general manager with training, recruiting, promotions and planning. The assistant general manager should be able to confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate business objectives. The AGM must be able to competently perform duties in the absence of the general manager.

**Main Duties**:
Cooperating with the general manager and assisting with everything from project planning to staff management.
Nurturing positive working relationships with staff.
Delegating daily tasks while supporting and assisting your staff.
Addressing any issues in a timely fashion and administering disciplines when required
Supervising staff and controlling stock & variances.
Ensuring company policies and procedures are followed.
Setting a good example for staff and leading by example - do the right thing even when no one is watching.
Promoting monthly drink feature, tracking sales, and acknowledging winner each month
Ensures all FOH staff pass periodic drink and food menu testing and assist with training when required
Assists GM in reaching all forecasted targets and goals.
Assists in leading and motivating a team of high energy, driven staff.
Inform GM of any necessary performance management needed for staff.

Help the team maintain consistent communication between FOH and BOH
Monitor compliance with Health and Safety requirements
Reports any maintenance issues in a timely manner and collaborates with repairs and maintenance teams to ensure limited disruptions to service.
Ensures that work areas are clean, and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored
Assist the GM with scheduling and floor planning
Fill in for the General Manager when they are unavailable at the venue
Keep daily records for staff attendance
Complies with all Cash Handling procedures and facilitates audits on floats and till counts.
Reports any financial discrepancies to the GM in confidence
Assists with any formal investigations regarding employees, vendors, or guests.
Assist the GM in recruitment, interviewing and hiring process.
Communicate all Features and specials, upcoming events, menu changes etc.
Assist the General Manager with Overall Restaurant operations
Participates in weekly manager meetings.
Navigate through employee relations and maintain confidentiality regarding staff
Report incidents, performance issues, inspections, or legalities to your GM and HR
Ensure excellent customer service and great quality food.
