**Out of School Program Contract Supportive Childcare Position**

BGC Fort Saskatchewan is a non-profit youth serving organization that has worked with children, youth, and families for the past 35 years. We are a member of the BGC Canada and offer a range of programs and services for the community. We strive to provide an inclusive challenging and exciting environment for children and youth of all backgrounds.

**Primary Job Responsibilities**
- To enhance the staff to child ratio to children requiring additional support
- Daily supervision of children within assigned programs such as arts, sports, and nutrition
- Be a role model with a positive attitude who can build healthy relationships with children, families and co-workers.
- Ensure children’s safety and demonstrate positive behaviour while having fun
- Offer and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities.
- Ensure equipment is safe, clean and replaced if needed
- Help to keep the program up to licencing/accreditation standards of excellence.
- Daily communication with parents, children and co-workers
- Potentially One - on - One support for children with special needs

**Qualities for Success**
- Be highly motivated, warm and friendly.
- A desire to work with elementary age children and ability to be physically active.
- Be a creative problem solver with critical thinking skills, be willing to both give and receive feedback for growth.
- Have excellent interpersonal, communication and attentive listening skills.
- Ability to provide hands on learning opportunities and behavioural support that enhance the child’s overall experience.
- Strong knowledge of emotional regulation, child development and autism an asset

**Qualifications**
- Childcare Certification - Minimum Level 1 Child Development Assistant
- Diploma/Degree in Child and Youth Care, Early Learning in Childcare, Education or Social Work, or related experience would be an asset.
- Criminal Record Check
- Child Intervention Check
- First Aid

**Hours of Work**Requires a flexible work schedule.

School Days 5 hours per day (split shift) & No School Days and Summer 8 hours per day
