- As the Human Resources (HR) Leader, Corporate Payroll, you are responsible for coaching, developing, and supervising a team of payroll professionals to ensure adherence of multiple compliance regulations and adherence of best practices and procedures. A primary focus will be to ensure your payroll strategy is aligned with the corporation’s business strategy. Primary duties include:
- Coordinate information as it pertains to legislated or general pay issues to all employees in the organization.
- Advise employees about the terms and conditions affecting severance principals.
- Recommend solutions to problems and take action to prepare communication strategies.
- Implement changes to Payroll operations and work processes to ensure legislated changes or altered payroll directives are accurate.
- Participate in Leader Team meetings providing technical leadership and system's expertise to support process improvement and efficiencies.
- Work to ensure the accuracy of the entire gross to net Payroll for the City and ensure sound payroll controls to support the audit function.
- Provide leadership to the Division as it relates to providing direction and leadership mentoring and coaching with a focus on continuous process improvement and quality assurance.

- A completed 2 year diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field and a valid Canadian Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is required, along with at least 6 years of related progressive payroll experience.
- Previous experience in a large multi-union environment along with previous supervisory experience will be considered assets.
- Previous experience with change management will also be considered an asset.
- You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective, lasting professional relationships accompanied by a demonstrated customer focus.
- Strong organizational abilities, a keen attention to detail, proven problem solving and decision making skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Your ability to manage multiple, constantly shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated political and business acumen.
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
