**YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WOULD BE**:

- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with HLD’s commitment to safety
- Assist in maintaining accreditation and performance audits including maintaining documentation, training, inspections, submittal preparation etc.
- Undertake Annual Review of Health and Safety Policy
- Ensure workers provided/trained on new policies and procedures while keeping all records up to date.
- WSIB Clearance and monthly review
- Annual WSIB Safety Excellence achieved
- Complete pre-start-up work hazard assessment for foreman to review with team
- Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks
- Address and resolve health and safety issues or concerns as they arise and provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
- Conduct JHS Meetings
- Ensure workers have all the required & deemed necessary safety training and ensuring always up to date
- Ensure workers have appropriate PPE and site supervisors have appropriate inventory available.
- Confirm trucks & equipment maintenance and annual inspections are up to date
- Regular field visits to ensure always working in a safe manner and environment
- Complete accident investigations and reporting
- AODA Compliance
- Onboarding new team members, providing health & safety orientation and training
- Support the updating of employee handbook, ensuring updates are received by all members of HLD
- Present any new or additional training materials to employees
- Ensure all employee records are up to date, filed, maintained and kept confidential
- Work directly with and report to the human resources manager
- Performs other related duties as needed

**THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU WILL NEED**
- Passion for fostering a healthy & safe work environment
- Clear understanding of OH&S Act and Green Book
- Highly organized and efficient worker; skilled at multi-tasking
- Positive and personable demeanor
- Ability to handle stressful situations and resolve conflict
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written as well an active listener
- Excellent collaborator with the ability to be assertive and escalate issues to management when necessary
- Willing to take initiative and work independently

**YOUR QUALIFICATIONS**:

- G class licence with clean abstract
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related position or a combination of related experience and education
- Construction JHSC Certification part 1 & 2 an asset
- IHSA Basics of Supervising or equivalent an asset.
- Knowledge of Ontario’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) program
- Understanding of federal and provincial safety requirements OHSA, ESA and MOL
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
