**Custodian/Maintenance Person
St. Basil’s Parish, is looking for a part-time custodian maintenance person. Reporting to the Parish Priest, this position offers a competitive rate of pay/benefits and requires a commitment to work flexible hours.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Spring/Summer/Fall
- cutting grass with mowing equipment and upkeep of general grounds and gardens.
- Water gardens and lawn areas not covered by irrigation system
- Winter
- Snow and ice control of doorways, steps and walkways including salting and shoveling and maintenance of winter logs.
- Liturgical seasonal decorating.
- Perform other duties as required
- Year round
- Inspection of Parish lighting system, fire alarm and emergency systems.
- Parish garbage collection/recycling and disposal upkeep.
- Maintenance cleaning of church/hall and washrooms as needed (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Boiler care daily in winter, occasionally in spring/fall
- General electrical & plumbing repairs
- Facilitates maintenance & repair initiatives for parish buildings
- Co-ordinate with contractors as needed
- Facilitate inspections (Fire department, irrigation)
- Conduct monthly fire alarm test in hall
- Inspect grounds for garbage, abandoned items at entrances
- Parish events set up and take down.
- Ensure appropriate maintenance logs are completed and up to date
- Participate in an emergency contact list

**Requirements**:

- Education: high school or equivalent
- Prior landscaping experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Be able to work in all outdoor year round weather conditions and in good physical condition
- Familiar with safe operations of landscaping equipment (lawnmower, trimmers etc.)
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Steel-toed safety boots

Licenses
- G Class Driver’s license
