Applications are being accepted for the Irrigation Technician at the Vernon Golf and Country Club.

This is a seasonal position ($23.33/HR) falling under the Collective Agreement CUPE Local 626.

**DEFINITION**:
The Irrigation Technician under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, programs, operates, and repairs all components of the irrigation system, and directs and participates in the maintenance, construction, and improvement projects of the golf course property.

**TYPICAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Repairs and maintains irrigation system components including pump stations, pipes, irrigation heads and valves, electrical control devices and wiring.
- Records in written form all activities involved in the upkeep of the irrigation system including updates to mapping plans of the system.
- Participates in the upkeep of data and maintenance of the computerized components.
- Performs all regular maintenance practices required to maintain the course playing and non-playing surfaces, buildings, and structures at consistently high standards as outlined by the Vernon Golf Club.
- Operates all types of both light and heavy equipment associated with golf course maintenance.
- Performs all duties and operates all equipment associated with golf course construction and course improvement projects.
- Carries out watering and syringing practices to a variety of plantings on the golf course property.
- Shall perform other duties as may be required from time to time.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 or equivalent BC driver’s license.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a golf course maintenance or irrigation field
- Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and operate equipment.
- Knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds, landscape, and building maintenance.
- Physical strength, stamina, and agility.

**Salary**: $23.33 per hour
