Reotech is seeking a **_Construction Safety Coordinator_** to join our team As the Construction Safety Coordinator, you will join a leading General Contractor who specializes in commercial interiors in the Lower Mainland, where employees are supported and stay long-term thanks to a great company culture

Working closely with the Site Superintendents and other members of the on-site team, you will be a key player in ensuring multiple sites are safe and operating as efficiently as possible.
- **Your day will be a combination of at the office and visits to various sized commercial interior projects/sites within the lower mainland**_

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Evaluate, develop, and implement Reotech’s safety program and strategies, while driving a strong health and safety culture, where safety is a shared responsibility
- Remain up to date on new and revised legislation, industry trends, and best practices to make recommendations on keeping programs current and relevant
- Ensure all sites are in compliance with WorksafeBC regulations and all team members abide by and adhere to Reotech’s Health & Safety Program
- Ensure compliance with the Workplace Violence and Harassment Policies and Procedures
- Provide support to Estimators, Project Managers, and Site Superintendents on start-up of new projects through:

- Filing of NOP’s with WorksafeBC
- Initial site assessments and review of site-specific procedures, any site-specific training required, and first aid requirements
- Create site specific JHA, exposure and safety plans as required
- Arrange for hazmat testing if required
- Prepare all safety documentation and first aid supplies for Site Superintendents (Binder, safety board, first aid kit, fire extinguishers)
- Responsible for managing and overseeing the Health and Safety program for Reotech Construction including but not limited to:

- Conduct initial new and returning employee orientation (overall H & S program)
- Coordinate (and/or conduct) worksite safety training for all team members (WHMIS, hearing tests, fall protection, Fit testing, etc.)
- Maintain and update all training records to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with WorksafeBC are met
- Acts as the first point of contact for all WorksafeBC claims, return to work, and modified duties programs
- Lead the development and maintenance of Job Hazard Assessments, Site Specific Job Procedures, Safe Work Procedures, Exposure Control Plans and Safety Plans when required
- Maintain Supplier Safety Data Sheets records/logs and conduct periodic reviews
- Monitoring of safety performance through daily site inspections, identifying and resolving issues from inspections through corrective actions
- Organize and communicate toolbox talk topics for Site Superintendents on a weekly basis
- Ensure all Site Superintendents are conducting weekly toolbox talks and site-specific orientations
- Participate in investigations as required and issue corrective actions based on findings of root causes
- Ensure all accidents, incidents, and injuries are properly reported
- Organize, participate, and lead the JHSC meetings on a monthly basis
- Issue and maintain inventory of all PPE and first aid supplies
- Update/restock firs aid kits as they are returned from completed job sites
- Organize inventory and servicing of fire extinguishers
- Fill in as a First Aid Attended when required
- Create and distribute monthly and weekly reports to the principal
- Organize annual safety statistics review with all Senior Managers
- Completion (or working towards) a degree/diploma of an accredited program in Occupational Health & Safety
- Minimum of 2 years Health and Safety experience preferably within commercial construction/site safety for a General Contractor/Construction Manager
- CSO, CRSP, or NCSO designation or equivalent a definite asset
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level II (OFA 2)
- Thorough understanding of current WorksafeBC legislations, OH&S Regulations, and the Workers Compensation Act
- Solid knowledge of construction processes and site safety
- The ability to handle high-pressure situations in a professional manner; take an educational approach to provide safety support to Site Superintendents and site workers
- Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures
- Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated aptitude for report and documentation writing with a focus on providing clarity and accuracy
- Solid understanding of PPE and safety equipment use and maintenance
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Critical thinking, sound judgement in all situations, and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to influence and lead others at all levels in the organization
- High level of computer literacy, specifically for MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Po
