The Health and Safety Coordinator (HSC) will report directly to the Health and Safety Manager and is responsible for the coordination and workflow of all health and safety initiatives and projects. The HSC will provide ongoing support creating health and safety awareness, ensuring corporate compliance with legislation, up to date training and certifications, internal audits and inspections, statistical reports and consistently working towards maintaining and fostering a safe working environment and positive representation of the Health and Safety department. The HSC will be responsible for building relationships and providing support with employees and management in both the field and office operations.

**Role and Responsibilities**
- Primarily focused on Health and Safety initiatives as related to office and site employees. Assists in the initiation, development and implementation of health and safety awareness through programs, systems, committees and engagement activities Leading member leading of the Joint Health and Safety Committee through maintaining up to date knowledge of all legislation, organizing committee meetings, developing and managing health and safety program, performing investigations, maintaining up to date certifications and records, handling escalations, generating and completing reports, managing first aid kit supplies and procedures, implementing corrective procedures, acting as Health and Safety Officer for all employees and administrative tasks associated
- Involved in WCB claims including completion of paperwork, issuing and monitoring modified duties, creating and administrating safe return to work programs for injured workers and focusing on implementing safe working procedures following outlined policies and procedures utilizing assistance of internal and third-party resources
- Provide guidance for onboarding and orientation of new employees ensuring completion of training programs and associated administration
- Promotes constructive work relationships through effective communication with all employees providing an accurate and positive representation of the Health and Safety department and outlined policies and procedures
- Provides leadership, guidance and technical support to all company operations regarding specific issues relating to health and safety programs and practices
- Conducts safety evaluations of project sites using documentation and standardized processes
- Ensures that sub-contractors adhere to required safety standards as per policy and procedures
- Assesses risks and trends in the workplace and implements corrective measures to reduce risks
- Provides in-house health and safety training with employees which includes employee orientation and various employee specific training and maintaining compliance with up-to-date legislation
- Identifies investigates, reports, and provides guidance relative to root causes for incidents, employee safety programs and regulatory compliance pertaining to health and safety
- Conduct field visits, inspections, and audit of construction job sites
- Advises on a wide range of specialist areas (regulations, fall protection, occupational health, hazardous substances, client on-line training programs)
- Enters data from various sources to maintain and update databases and spreadsheets
- Ensures data integrity by verifying inputs and calculations with an eye to detail
- Perform additional related duties in accordance with job responsibilities and department objectives as required

**skills and qualifications**
- Post Secondary education and/or certification in Health & Safety or Human Resources
- Experience in construction and/or industrial services
- Experience in a COR certified environment is considered an asset
- Knowledge of CVOR practices, inspection and regulations is considered an asset
- Understanding and knowledge of all Federal, Provincial Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Human Rights Code, WCB, etc.,

- Ability to think critically and problem solve, excellent organizational skills and good judgment in making decisions
- Ability to work in a team environment or to work independently with strong self-management.
- Ability to travel to job sites in BC, and occasionally to Redwood, WA.
