We are currently searching for **Journeyman Carpenters **to work in various locations throughout Winnipeg.

**Summary**

The Journeymen Carpenter is responsible for building, restoring and/or installing of form work and associated materials prior to concrete placement. This position requires knowledge of the construction industry. Specifically the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, and safety associated with this industry. The Journeymen Carpenter must be proficient at the following tasks: trim work, layout for stairs and common vertical and horizontal structures, reading blueprints, and must possess mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.

Construction Site Foreman/Supervisor

**Job Duties**
- Construct chutes, forms and align form panels for pouring concrete.
- Observe and comply with all health and safety regulations and ensures any apprentices under your direction comply.
- Lay building foundations.
- Confirm trueness of structures
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment.
- Keep a daily log of tasks.
- Respect and respond to direction given.
- Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control System.
- Prepare estimates for work orders and request materials required to complete the job.
- Set up scaffolding as needed.
- Handle and transport job materials to the work area as needed.
- Guide and teach apprentices ensuring they are preforming task correctly.
- Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations.
- Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required.

**Requirements**:

- Current Journey Person's Carpenter's Certificate.
- Certificate of Apprenticeship, Carpenter.
- 1-3 years of experience as a Carpenter.
- Knowledge of safe operation of carpentry tools.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to read specifications, blueprints and as-builds.
- Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members, and others.
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates.
- Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.
- Makes suggestions for improvement.
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
- Respect diversity - treat others with respect.

**Work Conditions**
- Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project.
- Requires ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 60 feet, and crawl for distances of 50 feet.
- Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials.
- Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 50 lbs for 50 feet is required.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
- Hazards associated with the construction industry.

**Salary**: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
