Project Coordinator - Mechanical
1.0 Regular, 35 hours per week
ESP Level 8 - $54,674 to $70,594 per annum
Under the direction of the Team Manager, Design & Construction, the Project Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and coordination of mechanical renovations and alterations, school funded improvements projects, joint Board/community requests, and special programs. The Coordinator will also provide support in new school design & construction, mechanical design & upgrade programs, health and safety requests and act as the technical resource for Board-wide facilities as required.
**Key responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Assists in the development of preliminary new construction projects by reviewing sites to determine initial feasibility; providing advice and guidance during conceptual plan, sketch plan and working drawing stages; and developing, maintaining and interpreting new construction guidelines.
Develops and maintains multi-year planned renewal and replacements budgets by receiving and processing requests for facility improvements; preparing feasibility reviews and estimates for all renewal requests; and preparing tender documentation
Liaise with other departments within the Board regarding technical aspects of buildings and systems
Interpret codes and standards for projects ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations
Assisting in the preparation and submission of required Ministry documentation for all stages of Capital Grant Plan approvals (Preliminary, working drawings and final).
**Qualifications**:
Completion of a community college diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related area of study and 3 years of related experience in the mechanical engineering field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Knowledge of construction, safety considerations, relevant Board policies and procedures, Acts and Regulations.
Working knowledge of contract administration, construction site supervision and documentation
Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills to provide advice, information, clarification and guidance to Board personnel, community and outside contractors using tact, diplomacy and discretion. Writing skills to prepare correspondence, feasibility reviews, and reports for the Ministry.
Project Management skills are required to manage and supervise mechanical projects and contractors, provide technical guidance, and ensure work is completed by deadline.
Time management skills to organize work and juggle multiple projects and demands.
Analytical skills are required when analyzing and interpreting drawings, determining project feasibility and recommending course of action.
Access to reliable transportation for travel to District sites.
