The ROYAL VICTORIA YACHT CLUB (RVYC) requires a Member Relations and Communications Coordinator to work in an exciting and vibrant environment. The RVYC has over 1000 members who are passionate about yachting, keen volunteers and love their Club.

Note: Job sharing or part time employment will be considered such as 3 or 4 days per week although full time is preferred.

:
Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Member Relations and Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing communications, graphics, and events to engage RVYC members in the many activities and services available to Club members. This includes working closely with the Club Administrator and other staff, Chairs of volunteer Program Committees, and members. The position plays a significant role in producing communications products such as the Club Annual, a weekly newsletter, a monthly newsletter, social media, and keeping information current on the Club’s website.

The work environment requires flexibility, self-motivation, and meeting tight deadlines.

**Member Relations**
- Provide a welcoming environment for new and potential new members by welcoming, providing tours, describing benefits of membership, and following up to ensure new members are oriented and welcomed in the Club;
- Facilitate communications among Program Committees;
- Maintain RVYC‘s public social media presence such as the RVYC Facebook page and Instagram ;
- Prepare and distribute media releases and information under the direction of the General Manager with input from applicable Chairs of Program Committees;
- Promote advertising, where applicable, in Club media such as the Annual and monthly Mainsheet;
- Provide support to the Food & Beverage Manager by informing and promoting menus and services;
- Work collaboratively with the Entertainment Committee composed of member volunteers to develop and run events for members.

**Support for Member Satisfaction**
- Support the Membership Committee composed of member volunteers to increase member satisfaction;
- Conduct analysis of member needs and potential changes in Club programs by spearheading analysis using the data available in the Jonas club management system and Google Analytics reports.

**Communications Support**
- Create information materials directed toward members in coordination with program ccommittees;
- Develop content with input from Program Committee Chairs, and distribute communications to members including the weekly Jibsheet, monthly Mainsheet, Club Annual, handbooks, brochures, website, and other electronic and non-electronic materials;
- Collect electronic copies of photographs from members representing the Club’s wide range of events and activities, reviewing for quality, and supporting the Communications Committee in choosing those that tell member stories for the weekly Jibsheet and the Club Annual;
- Design and produce/arrange for commercial production of posters, banners, and other forms of promotional materials;
- Provide other graphic design as required.

**Office Administration**
- Provide administrative support where required, including backup to the Club Administrator during peak workloads, vacation coverage, sick relief, and for special projects;

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Training**
- Communications, business development and marketing training is an asset;
- Training in office administration is required;
- Computer literacy is a must including programs such as MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Publisher and MailChimp;
- Training in use of the Jonas system is highly desired but not mandatory.

**WAGE**

We are able to offer $26 per hour with a benefits package if full time. Full time is 40 hours per week. Prefer Tuesday through Saturday but negotiable.

If not full time, wage will be increased to compensate for value of employer contribution to benefits.
