**Description**:
This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

In accordance with the Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Staff Agreement, this position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $70,935 - $117,785. This position has an initial appointment of 18 months.

**Location -**This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

**Working for the Department of Infrastructure Planning, Development and Partnerships (IPDP)**

Through strategic planning and partnerships across University Services Operations and Finance as well as the wider campus community, the department of Infrastructure Planning, Development and Partnerships (IPDP) seeks to improve the viability and utility of our infrastructure. Social, economic and environmental sustainability principles are incorporated into each project in support of our Integrated Asset Management Strategy, Taking Care of our Campuses and the upcoming Space Optimization Strategy.

The Space Planning & Stewardship unit is an integral team to the reimagining of how we use space and support the academic, teaching, learning and research mission of the University of Alberta.

**Position Summary**

The U of A manages 1.5 million square meters of space spread across 480 buildings.

In response to budget constraints and the need to maximize the effectiveness of all assets and resources, this position plays a vital role in advancing the university’s strategic goals.

**Duties**
- Reviews and evaluates assigned planning projects and emerging design projects within the framework of the Long Range Development Plant (LRDP), Space Guidelines, Architectural Guidelines and other Planning and Government documents such as the Space Optimization Strategy (SOS) and the Integrated Asset Management Strategy.
- Space Planning (implementation plans, oversees and directs planning/design consultants as required, coordination with Internal stakeholders and users/servicing, tenant improvement planning and design, furnishings planning and design).
- Space and Land Management (space allocation, inventory management, utilization analysis, functional evaluations, post occupancy reviews).
- Facilities and Land Policies, Standards, Guidelines Administration (includes compliance).

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Planning or equivalent experience/education in related architectural and design fields.
- Strong capabilities in analytical and conceptual thought processes and actions.
- Advanced skills in communications (both verbal and written), facilitation, creative problem solving, and/or relationship-based conflict resolution and mediation.
- Excellent data and analytic skills.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be curious, proactive, responsive, and value clear communication, transparency and collaboration.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- An accreditation in Urban planning or interior design would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated Project Management experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation, policies/procedures, and best practices. Would be considered an asset.
