As a valued member of our team, you will contribute to engineering designs across a wide range of projects, including water and wastewater treatment, transit electrification, freight rail, and electrical substation design. You’ll have flexibility and freedom to pursue knowledge and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of industrial electrical design, with exposure to diverse industries. Primary responsibilities:
Working under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s), your role will encompass the following:
- Support and preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for various industrial projects.
- Working with Engineers, Designers, and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.
- Supporting and developing design deliverables including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, electrical site plans, electrical schematics specifications.
- Performing site visits, as required, during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects.
Work Conditions:
- Travel: Some travel to job sites or other HDR offices could be required. This would be communicated in advance to give adequate coordination time with project work and personal life
**Preferred Qualifications**
- A Minimum of 1 year of electrical design experience (including co-op or internships).
- Prior Experience with low voltage power distribution design including unit substations, sizing circuit breakers, MCC’s, motor starters, cables and backup power generators.
- Experience conducting site visits and inspections.
- Valid driver’s license for Canada.
- Strong written and confident verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to take initiative.
**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
**What We Believe**
HDR is our company. Together, we build on each other's life experiences and perspectives to make great things possible every day. This shapes our collaborative culture, encourages organizational trust and connects us closer to the clients and communities we serve.
**Our Commitment**
As employee owners, we all have a role in creating an inclusive environment where each of us is welcomed, valued, respected and empowered to bring our authentic selves to work every day.
Our eight Employee Network Groups (Asian Pacific, Black, Hispanic/Latino(a), LGBTQ+, People with Disabilities, Veterans, Women, Young Professionals) help create a sense of belonging and foster a supportive environment where everyone is empowered to engage and contribute. Each group has an executive sponsor and is open to all employees.
We provide a comprehensive benefits package that promotes employee ownership, employee health, performance, and success, which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, an employee assistance program, paid time away, parental leave, paid holidays, a retirement savings plan with employer match, employee referral bonus and tuition reimbursement. The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) The pay range for Vancouver, BC is: $69,000 - $93,000
At HDR, the health and safety of our employees is of the upmost importance. In accordance with local safety, health, and environmental legislation, HDR is committed to developing, maintaining, and enforcing proactive safe work policies, procedures, and standards.
