The Human Resource Manager provides strategic leadership that models and promotes the mission, vision, and values of Northern Contours and for the current and continuing integrity and effectiveness of the Human Resources plan, functions, and department across the organization. The Human Resource Manager of Canada will manage all Human Resources (H.R.) functions for Canada operations, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices for Canada’s manufacturing and Renuit programs. Additionally administer Canada’s Environmental Health & Safety program, with the details of the scope of the EH&S role to be defined in coordination with operations senior management.

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Partners with the Canada operations and leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Provides support and guidance to H.R. generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Provides analytics at request to senior management to support future planning, budgeting, BOD meetings, etc.
- Manages the Canada Manufacturing and Renuit talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings.
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies in human resources, talent management, and the U.S. and Canada employment law.
- Manage the maintenance and implementation of safety programs, compliance plans, and initiatives.
- Participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses and property damage incidents. Ensure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and proper records/documents are maintained.
- Maintain compliance with permits, government regulations and other industry practices.
- Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
- Respond to environmental requests from customers pertaining to the regulations and certifications of supply chain.
- Must maintain Generalist duties at the assigned location.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS**:
**REQUIRED**:

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 5-7 years of experience in a Human Resources
- Must have HRPA designation or SHRM certified professional in Human Resources
- In-depth knowledge of current legislation relating to employment standards to the capacity of providing counsel, including but not exclusive to Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workers' Compensation Act, Labor Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, etc.
- HRIS systems experience with Time and Attendance Management or Payroll.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, consultative, and innovative approach to identifying opportunities and solving problems.
- Excellent written skills.
- Other duties as assigned

**PREFERRED**:

- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly desired.
- Strong aptitude for learning new technology and leveraging technology for best practices and processes.
- High level of accuracy, follow-through, prioritizing and meeting deadlines are essential along with a highly professional and calm demeanor projecting energy and helpfulness.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**:

- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
- Requires sitting for long periods of time.
