**) Coordinator, Student Awards. **This position is responsible for the coordination of the institute’s donor funded student awards program and works closely with the associate director, development staff, faculty, Student Financial Aid and Awards (SFAA), individuals and external organizations. The coordinator is the initial contact for internal and external inquiries regarding student awards and identifies needs, establishes awards, coordinates disbursement with SFAA, and participates in the identification of growth opportunities in the program.**Duties & Responsibilities**

**Awards Program Implementation**
- Develops and implements a comprehensive program to effectively support and facilitate the acquisition, renewal and upgrade of annual and endowed award donors
- Represents the Foundation, upon request, to present the donor funded awards program to internal and external groups
- Identifies and researches prospective award donors and makes recommendations for donor proposals
- In collaboration with the dean’s offices, Marketing Communications and SFAA, establishes and coordinates timelines for annual renewal campaigns
- Renews and upgrades annual donor support through targeted campaigns including developing timelines, donor segmentation and campaign implementation
- Coordinates procedures to collect outstanding pledges and acknowledge receipt of gifts
- Monitors institute priorities and education program intakes and credentials to ensure donors can direct their gifts appropriately
- Provides statistical and other information on the annual and endowed scholarship, bursary and awards program to the management team
- Ensures the disbursement of endowed funds interest to the appropriate awards
- Establishes annual and endowed fund accounts and ensures the proper allocation of donor funds
**General**
- Ensures eligibility of donations and that awards are established in adherence with institute policies and procedures, department and program interests and priorities, donor interests and CRA requirements
- Coordinates the transfer of award information between relevant institute departments and student award donor liaison
- Develops and implements processes to establish endowments and recommend merging of endowments as appropriate
- Participates in annual goal setting and strategic planning processes
- Serves on institute committees and working groups; advises on annual and endowed award structures, government and institute gift policies and donor recognition practices.
- Makes recommendations for the development of donor recognition and coordinates implementation
- Advises family members and/or faculty on the establishment of memorial funds
- Keeps up to date with, and makes recommendations on, new and innovative approaches in the development of the annual awards programs
- Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP)
- Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of this position.
**Qualifications**
**QUALIFICATIONS***:

- **Education**:
- Grade 12 plus completion of a two year diploma in fundraising, business or communications including courses in technical communications.
**Experience**:
- Two years general office experience plus four years relevant experience in this or related positions inside or outside the Institute.
**Software/Computer Application(s) and Expertise**:
- Microsoft Office at an intermediate level with proven proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience using fundraising database software, (i.e., Raisers Edge) and online content management systems.
**Communication/Interpersonal Skills**:
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a team player and work independently
- Must have considerable initiative, judgment, tact and diplomacy.
- Effective presentation skills.
**Administrative Skills (e.g. prioritizing, minute taking, wp speed, etc.)**:
- Proven ability to plan, prioritize, implement, oversee and coordinate complex programs with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
**Other Skills/Abilities**:
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategies to target specific profiles and interests.
