**About the Role**

Come join a fast-growing team of Lloyds Underwriters SeaFirst Insurance has exclusive contracts with multiple Lloyds Of London syndicates and our Underwriting team is integral to the success of those relationships.

The Commercial Underwriter reports to the Commercial Underwriting Manager and has functional relationships with Commercial producers, processors, and assistants within the company.

**Position Duties**
- Execute individual pricing and risk selection decisions within the assigned underwriting authority and in accordance with company guidelines
- Collect background information and assessments of risk
- Analyze statistical data using specialist computer programs
- Make sensible underwriting judgements and negotiations
- Determine premiums and prepare competitive quotes
- Prepare insurance policy terms and conditions to be approved by senior underwriters
- Work effectively within a team to achieve efficient operations, business improvements, and profitable underwriting results
- Keep detailed records of policies underwritten and decisions made
- Review claims on file and underwrite files accordingly
- Follow applicable insurance laws
- Other duties essential to the position as directed

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**

**Knowledge**
- At least 3 years of proven underwriting knowledge
- Commercial Property
- Commercial Liability
- The Agency Manager (TAM)
- Microsoft Excel and Word

**Skills**
- Analytical and problem-solving skills

- Effective verbal, presentation, and listening communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Effective written communication skills
- Computer skills, including the ability to operate all software used at the firm

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

Occasionally, an opportunity may arise to work overtime hours. All overtime hours must be pre-approved by a supervisor or manager. Unauthorized overtime is not permitted and will not be compensated.

Vacation time must be coordinated with the Commercial Underwriting Manager to ensure the department maintains coverage at all times.

Salary is negotiable based on experience.
