**PARENT **COACH** **Parent Support Program** **Permanent, Full-Time Position** **Wage Range: $19.95 - $25.99 per hour** About Us: Family Dynamics is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening families and building healthy supportive communities since 1936. Reporting to the Parent Coach Case Coordinator, the Parent Coach will work with parents and families in the Parent Coach program. The Parent Coach program seeks to strengthen relationships within the family home by empowering parents in their parental role and supporting them to attend to the various needs and demands of the household. This is a work from home position that requires a confidential work space for phone calls and locked storage for client records. The Parent Coach, using a strength-based, solution-focused approach, will develop a collaborative, helping relationship that is grounded in a spirit of respect, connection, curiosity, and hope. As a representative of Family Dynamics, the person in this position will adopt the mission, philosophy, and values of the agency in all aspects of their work. Clients are to be treated with dignity and respect and assured of confidentiality. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - SERVICE DELIVERY_ - Collaborate with the Parent Coach Case Coordinator to identify strategies for implementing the service plan. - Meet regularly with families, primarily in their place of residence, while working towards established objectives. - To maintain flexible hours and be available to work one/ two evenings per week Provide occasional supervision of children in the home to allow the parent to attend to an appointment or other unmet need - Provide families with practical tools, strategies, supportive guidance and mentorship - Continuous assessment of the effectiveness of intervention and follow-up - Adjust the area of focus of intervention as necessary. Make linkages to community resources and social networks including attending with the client when appropriate - Be accountable to the Parent Coach Case Coordinator for client contact notes and case reviews in accordance with agency and accreditation policies and procedures - Complete relevant administrative duties such as activity logs, mileage forms, keep schedule current, etc. - RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT_ - Gather and share information about resources in the community - Facilitate group programs for parents, such as Nobody’s Perfect, to develop parenting skills - Networking with community organizations - Represent the agency / Parent Coach Program in community outreach - TEAM PARTICIPATION_ - Work cohesively with team members and Program Manager in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program - Attend and participate in team meetings and case reviews/consults - OTHER_ - Other duties as deemed necessary by the Program Manager or Executive Director. QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION_ - Post-secondary degree in Social Work, Inner-City studies, Human Ecology, or other related discipline is preferred. - Current enrollment in a post-secondary degree program in a related discipline OR completion of post-secondary certificate or diploma program in Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education, Community/Family Support Worker or other Human Services education plus 2 years of experience in direct client services will be considered - Emergency First Aid and Infant & Child CPR would be considered an asset - A combination of education and experience will be considered - Clear criminal record and child abuse registry check is required ( 3 months from present date) - Current Manitoba driver's license and reliable vehicle is required. - SKILLS & ABILITIES_ - Developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships. - Demonstrated ability to liaise and positively network with other professionals, agencies, and systems. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Knowledge of child development, attachment, and family systems - Strong anti-oppressive knowledge and practice - Knowledge of the effects of poverty and the determinants of health - Trauma and Violence-Informed practice with awareness of harm reduction approaches - Knowledge of community resources and social networks - Efficient organizational and time-management skills - Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team - This is a work from home position that requires a confidential work space for phone calls and virtual meetings along with locked storage for client records - Desired_ - Experience providing in-home supportive service to families We offer a dynamic and multi-cultural environment with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
