**PURPOSE**

The QC Chemist performs a variety of analytical laboratory testing of manufactured bulk products and finished goods and assures compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Testing batches made for production by the manufacturing department and giving batch adjustments when needed
- Recheck batches after adjustment
- Operate lab equipment as part of testing procedures as required
- Responsible for submitting bulk product samples and finished goods samples to the contract lab for various testing requirements
- Responsible for preparing paperwork to send with the sample for testing
- Responsible for generating certificate of analysis and test reports
- Approves the first sample of finished goods provided by the Production department at the start-up of each production run
- Ensures all lab finished goods standards are up-to-date
- Responsible for lab instrument calibrations in coordination with the other chemists as described in the SOP's
- Acts as back-up for the other QC personnel as needed (tasks may include: QC Chemist for raw material testing, incoming components, and other duties as assigned by the QC manager), i.e.:

- preparing solutions used in testing
- ordering lab supplies
- filing records
- Instrument calibrations
- EMP (premises swabbing)
- Compiling Master batch record for drug products
- Maintain lab housekeeping

**Requirements**:
**COMPETENCIES**
- Must have adequate knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing practices
- Share in some tasks with the other lab staff such as preparing solutions used in testing, ordering lab supplies, filing records***

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**
- Must have a Bachelor's degree of science, chemistry or other related science discipline
- Must have a minimum two years of experience in a related area

**Compensation and Benefits**:

- $38,000 to $45,000 (commensurate with experience and location).
