Blackbird Security Inc. is looking to hire an **Account Manager** to join our team to oversee the Canadian Borders Services Agency (CBSA) contract in **Surrey, BC**.
**Role Summary**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Act as the primary point of contact for CBSA regarding security guard operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, CBSA officials, and security personnel.
- Communicate with clients to ensure that security needs are met, and any concerns are addressed promptly.
- Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of CBSA security guards across assigned sites.
- Oversee approximately 3000 guard hours per week and approximately 100 guards working in various roles.
- Ensure security personnel are adequately trained and adhere to all CBSA standards, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate the scheduling of security guards to ensure proper coverage and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and evaluate security guard performance, providing feedback and corrective action when necessary.
- Ensure that all CBSA regulations, security procedures, and safety protocols are followed.
- Review incident reports, audits, and other security documentation for compliance and accuracy.
- Generate regular reports on security performance, incidents, and guard operations for management review.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of CBSA security guards.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement development plans to enhance the skills and effectiveness of the security team.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to security personnel, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
- Act quickly and efficiently to resolve any operational issues or conflicts that arise between security personnel, clients, or stakeholders.
- Address any security breaches or incidents, ensuring thorough follow-up and corrective actions are implemented.
- Work closely with management to ensure that all security operations are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the needs of CBSA and other stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance operational effectiveness.
**Job Requirements**
- Post-secondary education in Security Management, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience working with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) across various operational levels is highly preferred.
- Background in law enforcement, military service, and/or professional security is required.
- Proven leadership experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity within a security or similar operational environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing large teams.
- Exceptional client management and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with CBSA officials and other stakeholders.
- Proven leadership abilities to effectively supervise, mentor, and support large frontline security teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in security scheduling systems and incident reporting tools; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to interpret and enforce CBSA policies, site-specific protocols, and security regulations with consistency and professionalism.
- Skilled in conducting performance evaluations, implementing corrective actions, and developing team members.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills for reviewing incident data, audit results, and operational metrics.
- Valid provincial security license (required).
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
- Additional relevant certifications (e.g., security supervisor/manager training, leadership development) are considered assets.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Conflict resolution skills and the ability to address security issues swiftly and effectively.
- Adaptability and initiative to identify and implement process improvements in operations.
- Willingness to be on-call and respond to urgent issues outside of regular hours when needed.
- Clearance eligibility to work in secure, government-regulated environments (may include background screening or enhanced reliability clearance depending on site).
- Must have a valid security worker's license
- Must have a driver's license and a clean driver's abstract
- Valid Advanced Security Training (AST) is required
- OFA 1 or OFA 2 is considered an asset
