SUMMARY
Assist Purchasing with building partnerships with suppliers and making Weston Premium Woods their customer of choice. Responsible for sourcing and purchasing products at the best possible price and quality to maximize company profits.

To help make WPW be the market leader in the distribution and remanufacturing of forest products by providing outstanding service and building lasting partnerships.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing
- Source and purchase required products in a timely fashion at the best possible price and appropriate quality to maximize profits
- Negotiate purchase prices fairly, but firmly
- Stay current with daily product prices and provide prices to salespeople for quotes
- Send Purchase Quotes (PQ) to appropriate vendors for pricing and availability, add information to Purchasing Quotes Dashboard and update the Customer Service department
- Assist in checking inventory upon receipt at WPW for accuracy and quality
- Inspect customer returns in order to recommend best how to return the product to inventory or if a vendor claim is necessary
- Promptly investigate and resolve claims satisfactorily
- Assist in managing the Purchasing Dashboard
- Follow up on the status of incoming products and communicate any roadblocks/issues to Purchasing Manager, Customer Service and shipping/receiving department as soon as possible
- Liaise with vendors (Mill) on resolving problems associated with product delivery delays and continue to communicate the status of product delivery to appropriate departments
- Buy a product for a non-inventory item

Inventory Management
- Recognize and recommend sales opportunities based on product availability in the market and notify salespeople accordingly
- Manage and maintain required inventory levels as agreed upon with Purchasing Manager
- Aid in eliminating old inventory issues including deadstock, overpriced stock, problem stock, too much stock

Supplier Management
- Build and maintain a partnership with suppliers to become customers of choice
- Become the expert on products and vendors within the product industry
- Attend relevant trade shows and conventions as required

Administrative Support
- Process purchase orders, including placing orders, recording confirmations and assisting in tracking them through to completion
