We are looking for a **Financial Controller** with 8+ years of experience to work alongside our Manager, Finance & Accounting. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with and performing various full-cycle accounting functions, financial reporting and analysis. The Financial Controller is responsible for the performance and continuous improvement of the financial accounting processes & activities. The Financial Controller is a dynamic individual who is detail-oriented, has strong organizational skills, is comfortable with multitasking and is at ease with manipulating financial information to ensure the successful performance of the company by providing technical support and advisory expertise in the areas of financial reporting, audit & taxation.

Financial Reporting
- Manage the day-to-day accounting functions, including but not limited to payable, receivables, general journal entries, and month-end and year-end closing processes & activities;
- Prepare, review & deliver accurate, complete and timely consolidated & non-consolidated financial statements (monthly, quarterly & annually) for the entire group of entities;
- Coordinate the year-end audit process including the review and/or preparation of working papers, schedules, analysis and other required documentation;
- Prepare annual audited financial statements, including note disclosures;
- Ensure all external government & taxation filings (sales taxes, corporate taxes, waivers) are properly submitted;
- Ensure financial reporting and procedural compliance with federal and provincial regulatory standards and GAAP;
Financial Policies, Procedures and Controls
- Analyze current financial and operational procedures and policies, and ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting;
- Identify risk factors and areas in need of improvement, and develop recommendations and implementation plans for improvements to financial controls, policies and processes;
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to the accounting systems and processes to improve internal controls and efficiencies;
- Oversee the treasury function, including bank accounts, coordination of banking deadlines and monitoring of compliance with banking agreements;
Financial Management
- Ensure that the company's accounting and financial systems are up-to-date and functioning effectively, and identifying opportunities for process improvements;
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure changes to the business are reflected in the financial reports ;
Leadership
- Lead a team of bookkeepers, financial analyst & accounting managers;
- Manage the accounting teams' calendar and timeline for monthly, quarterly & annual deliverables;
- Act as a resource and provide assistance to the Director & executive teams with respect to financial information, issues and reports;
- Provide day-to-day leadership and lead the development of a positive and constructive culture through the facilitation of teamwork and immediate conflict resolution;
- Ensure the effective performance of all team members within the department through the effective establishment, communication and measurement of performance expectations;
- CPA designated finance professional with 8+ years of experience in a similar position;
- A solid understanding of Canadian GAAP and ASPE;
- Proficiency with Office/Excel is required, and NetSuite is an asset;
- Diverse financial accounting background with experience in financial reporting, accounting, auditing & taxation;
- Experience working with multiple entities & currencies, with companies based in the US, Europe & UK;
- Strong project management experience with the ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate multiple projects with multiple deliverables and deadlines;
- Strong business acumen with a results-oriented focus;
- Superior oral and written communication skills combined with excellent interpersonal skills;
- Believes in continuous improvement and driven to question and improve processes, systems, practices as appropriate;
- Motivated by a challenge, will pitch in wherever needed to see projects and tasks to completion and with the ability to adapt quick
