**Job Description**:
***:Under the direction of the City Archivist and the City Clerk as it relates to heritage matters, serves as the Chief Resource Officer to the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (HAC), and the main point of contact for all Archives research and reference requests relative to heritage properties. Coordinates communication between the city and heritage property owners to arrange committee site visits and heritage designation, develops community heritage partnerships, and coordinates the Doors Open event and other heritage events.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Serves as the Chief Resource Officer of the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee.
- Prepares reports and by-laws for City Council relative to heritage matters, property designations, additions to the heritage register, etc.
- Serves as the main contact for communication with heritage property owners relative to designated properties, properties listed on the heritage register and those seeking designation or registration.
- Serves as the main contact for communication with the Provincial and Federal Government as it relates to heritage designated properties in the City of Thunder Bay.
- Coordinates the Doors Open Event and manages all program and event details, including but not limited to identifying properties for inclusion in the Doors Open Event, contacts property owners, researches properties, creates promotional material, and manages all insurance needs and public access.
- Coordinates and tracks the work of HAC sub-committees in the completion of plan goals, and provides direction relative to the associated legislation and relative by-laws for committee information.
- Researches and recommends heritage properties considered for designation or listing in the heritage register to the Heritage Advisory Committee and to City Council.
- Prepares reports for the Heritage Advisory Committee as per the requirements under the Heritage Act.
- Attends Committee meetings and site visits to provide advice, direction and make recommendation to the Heritage Advisory Committee or to the City Clerk relative to heritage matters affecting the City of Thunder Bay.
- Participates in public outreach and education to promote heritage properties and the history of Thunder Bay.
- Provides reference and research services to all Archives public and corporate clients.
- Acts as the liaison and is the main point of contact for partners with other memory institutions.
- Performs such other duties as assigned.

**Education/Experience**:

- Completion of post-secondary education
- Knowledge of the Heritage Act and architectural history
- Knowledge of how to identify and retrieve archival records

- Superior political acumen and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with members of City Council, private and public officials, subordinates, co-workers, and the general public
