**JOB SUMMARY**

The mandate of the Rail Construction Program is to transform, develop, grow and sustain Ottawa’s Light Rail Transit Systems as a component of the City of Ottawa’s overall transportation and mobility strategy.
- You are responsible for: coordinating, overseeing and monitoring the construction works related to the Stage 2 Light Rail Transit (LRT) project within the City’s Rail Construction Program; coordinating works associated with multiple phases of the project, including early works, design, construction, demolition, rehabilitation, testing, commissioning, closeout, turnover to clients, warranty and maintenance; and supporting management staff in the decision-making process by implementing construction oversight and inspection to assess the performance, quality and progress of the Stage 2 LRT project construction works.
- You also: perform a key role in site coordination and communication; ensure compliance with all construction contract requirements; interface with contractors, consultants and external stakeholders; monitor, track and report on project status; perform site visits and prepare daily field inspection reports; review submittals and payment requests; and actively work to resolve issues in the field wherever possible, and escalate to management when needed.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**

Completion of 4 year university degree in a relevant engineering discipline or applied science from an accredited university
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant field experience on construction projects.
- Experience on light rail construction projects is desirable

**CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES**
- Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) OR Licensed Architect with Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is desirable
- Certificate of Recognition (COR) training or certification from IHSA is desirable

**KNOWLEDGE**
- Engineering standards for Ontario/Canada and related to the field of expertise
- Various engineering standards, bylaws and related national and provincial codes
- Applicable acts, legislations, regulations and guidelines
- City of Ottawa standards and specifications
- OPSS, MOE and other related agency regulations
- Awareness of project management concepts
- Contract management
- Engineering, construction and design processes
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook, etc.)
- Field investigation techniques
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
- Awareness of project management concepts
- Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects for Ontario

- Ability to read technical plans and drawings for multiple disciplines, including structural, civil, architectural, etc.
- Prepare and deliver field inspection reports and progress reports

**WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW**
- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
- Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
