Service: Rail Construction Program Service Branch: Construction Management Branch Employment Type: 1 Full-time Temporary - Until the end of the current year. Work Hours: 35.00 hours per weekAffiliation: CIPP Salary Information: $93,764.58 - $114,097.62 annually (2025 rates of pay)Location: Gillin Building,141 Laurier Avenue City: Ottawa, ON Job Category: Transit Services - OC Transpo Application Close: 06/02/2026JOB SUMMARY The mandate of the Rail Construction Program is to transform, develop, grow and sustain Ottawa’s Light Rail Transit Systems as a component of the City of Ottawa’s overall transportation and mobility strategy.  You are responsible for ensuring project-wide environmental compliance during the construction of the Stage 2 LRT expansion on both the Confederation and Trillium Lines. This includes ensuring that all of the project’s environmental obligations are met, including compliance with environmental assessment and regulatory agency requirements, relevant legislation and particular stakeholder requirements/provisions. As the Environmental Lead Stage 2 LRT, you oversee all environmental aspects of construction activities including site preparation, earthworks, roadworks, construction, demolition, rehabilitation, trackworks, overhead catenary system, testing and commissioning, closeout and turnover to client. You also: review proponents’ environmental management plans, policies and procedures and monitor implementation and compliance in the field; assist RCP management by acting as a subject matter expert on environmental matters and providing professional expertise and technical support to the program; participate in inspection and audit planning, prioritization and risk management; and participate in the environmental development of the RCP team by coaching, mentoring and providing training as needed. Additionally, you: perform site visits; prepare field reports, contractual correspondence and presentations; participate in meetings as required; works closely with constructors’ environmental management to identify concerns, resolve issues and investigate incidents; and liaise with internal and external stakeholders and consultants including Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MOECP), Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA), National Capital Commission (NCC), Airport Authority, and others, as needed. You demonstrate strong knowledge of project requirements, construction practices, federal, provincial and municipal environmental laws and regulations and good industry practice. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of 4 year university degree in pure or applied environmental science, such as environmental engineering, environmental science or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience of directly related experience in environmental assessment and management in construction. At least 2 of the 5 years should include supervisory and project management experience. CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulatedLEED AP (Accredited Professional) with Green Building Certification Inc.
