Description:
Reporting to the VP - Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for all regional human resource matters including employee and labor relations, employee development, organizational development and change, performance management, and legal and regulatory compliance within assigned region. Manage 2-3 direct reports of professional employees. Please note this is an 18-month contract position starting in November 2025; this role requires being in office 5 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Regional Human Resources function, partnering closely with the business to develop and implement HR initiatives, strategies, best practices, policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with the HR Shared Services team to execute the talent management lifecycle for employees including performance management, talent assessment, development and succession planning.
- Oversee or conduct investigations involving alleged misconduct and policy violation issues (e.g., discrimination and harassment); make recommendation to senior management on resolution and prevention measures.
- Actively partner with the regional management team in the establishment of the strategic direction for the business, including identification of organizational development needs and overall alignment of HR programs to achieve business results.
- Ensure all employment practices, compensation, employee benefits, disability and onboarding are managed within the limits of nationally established standards, procedures, guidelines and policies.
- Maintain communication and liaise with the HR Shared Services team on HR related issues; maintain a high degree of confidentiality with employee and company information.
- Partner with managers providing them with coaching, guidance and continuous feedback, as well as assisting them in developing strategies to enhance overall employee satisfaction and alignment with business strategies.
- Coach and counsel management on various employee related processes including performance management, talent management, and employee discipline. Escalate serious matters as required.
- Manage the Regional HR annual budget.
- Develop and implement a workforce and human resources planning framework in collaboration with the business to plan for development and success of talent.
- Recommend and implement procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover
- Guide and oversee positive resolution of employee relations issues.
- Provide partnership to the business, consulting on employment law, labor relations, talent management, employee relations, and employee development
- Lead the development and implementation of programs that will drive increased employee engagement and commitment levels.
- Partner and advise managers on hiring, promotions and terminations
- Work with management and the union leadership to find optimal solutions to issues through joint meetings and ongoing relationship development
- Partner with management and HR team to ensure compliance with Collective Agreements; assist in interpreting collective agreements
- Participate on or lead the negotiations team in collective bargaining, providing insight, advice and counselling to the labour relations specialist and operational leadership.
- Partner with HR Shared Services to design, develop and implement national training and development programs based identified organizational needs.
- Partner with HR Shared Services on the succession planning process and its implications to leaders and successors.
