**Job Description**:
**The Opportunity**
The Human Resource (HR) Manager contributes to a dynamic and collaborative organization by helping to align the organization’s people strategy with CAWST’s vision and mission. As the organization’s sole HR team member, the HR Manager is responsible for the people related operations and administrative functions within CAWST. Functional responsibilities under the role of the HR Manager include recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, compensation and benefits, organizational development, retention, and maintenance of immigration and work permits.
This role requires a broad set of skills, and the ability to balance the administrative demands of the role with work in ongoing initiatives.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
**Building our People Strategy**
- Act as the primary point of contact for leaders and employees in their day to day HR related inquiries
- In partnership with the leadership team, support all strategic people planning initiatives by developing and facilitating all talent management related activities including organizational design, succession planning, performance management, compensation, recruitment and employee onboarding
- Partner with leaders at all levels of the organization to develop and effectively engage their people by:
- Coaching leaders on performance management processes such as performance feedback, ongoing development discussions and performance improvement plans;
- Managing employee relations and ensuring accurate and timely documentation and resolution of concerns or issues; and
- Supporting and guiding employees and leadership with policy interpretation and execution
**Managing Payroll, Benefits and Employee Data**
- Administer semi-monthly payroll and manage time data through ADP’s Workforce Now. Payroll processing is fully outsourced to ADP
- Administrator CAWST benefits programs by:
- Submitting benefit remittances;
- Educating staff on all benefits programs;
- Serving as liaison between insurance carriers and employees; and
- Ensuring compensation and benefits are in line with company policies and legislation
- Manage benefits renewal process
- Act as system administrator for ADP Workforce (modules include: HR, Benefits, Payroll and Time)
- Maintain human resource information and employee records, including:
- Tracking employee immigration status and work with Immigration Consultants and staff to ensure work permits are tracked and renewed; and
- Coordinating staff leaves and requests for alternative work arrangements
**HR Policies and Processes**
- Review and update, when necessary, CAWST’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures & Employee Handbook
- Prepare engaging presentations for delivery to the HR Committee of the Board of Directors that includes analysis of HR status and compliance, culture climate, organization performance and trends
- Participate as the Employee and Family Support Coordinator in CAWST’s Crisis Management Team
- Co-lead CAWST’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee
**Qualifications**:
- A degree or diploma in human resources management, business administration or equivalent, and/or equivalent work experience as an HR professional
- 5+ years of relevant experience as a generalist in a fully integrated human resources capacity
- CPHR designation considered an asset
- Experience with ADP’s Workforce Now or similar HRIS is essential
- International and/or non-profit experience an asset
- Ability to easily switch between strategic thinking and hands-on detailed HR administration
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively and collaboratively, problem solve, research to find information; creative and innovative nature and keen to work in a small organization
- Judgment, trust, and high-degree of confidentiality
Additional Information
- Some flexibility for remote work exists, however, the expectation is that the individual has a significant presence in the Calgary offi**ce**
