**Human Resources and Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator**
The Human Resources and Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for providing operational and administrative Human Resources support to the Middle Beach Lodge Department Managers including but not limited to; maintenance of employee records, orientation of new employees, recruitment, oversight of staff accommodations, and implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety plan.
**Responsibilities**:
- Keep job descriptions up to date and advertising for applicable positions
- Vetting applicants and assisting department managers as needed in interviewing and reference checks
- Manage all aspects of staff housing properties: control, placement, upkeep, and disciplinary actions
- Curate, grow and manage the company Occupational Health & Safety program and ensure the proper facilitation of same across all departments, including the Fire Response Plan.
- Track employee review dates and inform department managers as needed.
- Train all employees in proper OH&S and Fire Response methods
- Monitor and evaluate employee integration and performance in the company and make recommendations to the senior team.
- Assist employees in integration into Tofino and provide a strong local knowledge of mental health and medical resources.
- Participate in disciplinary and termination meetings.
- Respond to employee concerns and resolve sensitive complaints. Present any investigation findings to Lodge Manager or Assistant Lodge Manager
- Ensure all senior team conform to local labor and residential tenancy laws
- Manage all Work Safe B.C. Claims
- Support company wellness program and schedule classes/events
- Provide employee information and distribution of Employee Assistance Plan Benefit
- Organize and execute staff events and incentive programs
- Other projects and duties as needed
**Required Experience**:
- 1 - 3 years in Human Resources or a Leadership role with Human Resources Functions
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline
- Basic understanding of human resources functions, reporting and record keeping requirement
- Understand and behave with a high level on integrity and complete confidentiality at all times
- Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Previous experience in a hospitality setting will be considered an asset
