**Job Overview**
The Product Innovation Specialist is responsible to oversee, manage, and facilitate all activities that relate to product and company innovation within the natural products industry (e.g., new trends, products, and ideas). This position is tasked with improving a culture of continuous innovation spread throughout all levels of the organization. The Product Innovation Specialist will work alongside third-party food scientists, managing internal and external timelines.

**Responsibilities**

The Product Innovation Specialist’s responsibility is primarily project management, facilitation and completion of trials in house while tracking all steps of process for our QMS, BRCGS, SRED.

Manage the entire product life cycle from SKU innovation to scale up activities and initial product launch.

Analyze current product portfolio and develop reformulation ideas for ingredient optimization, process improvement and cost efficiency.

Ensure that the product development process is executed through impeccable formula development, supported by scientific thinking and gaining consensus from all stakeholders before taking action. Activities that will accomplish this may include testing, clear communication, on-time paperwork flow, and the tracking of all communication within the innovation, design, and development stages of product development value stream.

Improve the ideation process for product development by studying the market and proposing new ideas and customer solutions that help stimulate new product ideas which empower our customers to lead a healthier and happier life.

Work with the Marketing & Executive team to develop and implement long-term strategic innovation direction for existing businesses and future business opportunities.

Is a team player who contributes to a culture that can effectively delegate to and trust teams to produce excellent results.

**Qualifications**
**Education & Experience**:

- 2+ years experience in R&D or product development for a food manufacturer
- Understanding of functional ingredients
- Experience with technical formulation including plant trials; scale-up/commercialization
- Project coordination/management experience
- Passion for natural foods

**Preferred Experience**:

- Prior work experience in Product Development
- Ingredient experience with plant based products
- Bachelor in Food Science or comparable educational certification
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas etc.)
- Prior experience at a Canadian health food start up

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
