**What you can expect from this position**:
Working with the Manager, CUP and COGEN Utilities this position plans and coordinates new plumbing systems and maintenance of water, sewer and gas services including technical reviews.

**As a Coordinator, Plumbing Utilities, you will**:

- Participate in the planning and coordinating of new plumbing systems, water, sewer and gas services, including:

- Identify tie-ins, the need for shutdowns, identifying areas that will be affected and recommending timing
- Discuss the restoration or replacement requirement of assets with managers and other project engineering or technical guides and propose solutions
- Draft and/or review standards for specifications for new equipment, conducts inspections of plumbing, water and sewer services and ensures new installations conform to specifications and the installations meet established codes, standards and best practices
- Record and report findings of non-compliance and follows up to ensure corrective actions have been taken
- Plan, coordinate and implement isolations of water, gas, and heating/chilled distribution systems to facilities or on airport property as and when required
- Arrange for the use of hydrants for construction activities by installing and maintaining backflow preventors
- Coordinate plumbing work performed by GTAA staff to ensure alignment to standards
- Provide information and advice to GTAA staff regarding actions that impact on water & gas systems
- Respond to trouble calls for Water quality issues, arranges for samples, keeps records of testing and reviews results. In concert with the manager, figures out appropriate course of action including reporting to Health Canada, providing notification to affected tenants and coordinating corrective action.
- Respond to emergencies related to water or gas mains, heating/chilled line breaks, and sewer backups by conducting initial inspections, initiating contractor services, and accompanying the contractor to review and monitor work. Coordinate actions such as locates and shutdowns with GTAA staff, Region of Peel or Enbridge or others as required and notifies affected tenants.
- Ensure that accurate records are maintained in the Technical Data Centre regarding the plumbing distribution inventories including all water, gas and sewage distribution systems, meters and sub-meters, numbering, and locations etc. for the Utilities Department. Provides sketches and other information to assist in updating records.
- Install asset locators for the system control points and maintains records of locators. Provides tracing services or locates as needed for project or maintenance work.
- Maintain an office with current prints and data that reflect current projects to enable the GTAA and outside contractors to coordinate and plan their efforts accordingly.
- Perform annual inspections and minor maintenance on natural gas and water distribution systems to ensure valves operate and expected life cycle of the system controls is attained, keeping pertinent records of the work completed. This work includes:

- Test of water and flushing of water mains
- Test of backflow preventors on the water mains
- Inspect operation of gas valves, regulator stations, and test point wires
- Coordinate and lead the annual contracted maintenance of fire hydrants and sewer systems including catch basins and stormceptors
- Coordinate quarterly inspections of the district energy systems that include hot and chilled water piping, thermal meters, sump pumps, chambers, valves and related equipment. Take measures to correct any deficiencies and safety hazards.
- Collect natural gas and water consumption data, campus wide, on an as needed basis for energy management reports and bulk billing verification

- Ontario Certificate of Qualification in the trade of Plumber, Construction/Maintenance(306A) is required
