**Stó: lō Service Agency **requires the services of a qualified **Administrative Assistant-Communications** to fill a vacancy with the **Operations Department.** _Pursuant to section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code, preference may be given to applicants of Aboriginal ancestry._ Please self-identify on your cover letter or resume.
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the coordination, development, implementation and dissemination of internal and external communication for **Stó: lō Service Agency.**
This position will also cover administrative duties of a front reception area including: being the first point of contact, creating a welcoming environment for the organization, answering phone calls, taking messages for employees, and directing visitors.
**Qualifications/Requirements**:
- Must be a Grade 12 Graduate with courses in Office Administration, Business Administration, and/ or related courses. Preference will be given to persons with experience in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or equivalent qualification.
- Must have actual experience (minimum of 1 year) in any or all of the tasks cited in the specific duties and responsibilities.
- Must have computer literacy on Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Suite, and other computer software.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must have knowledge with editing websites.
- Must have experience in developing promotional activities.
- Skills in handling electronic media as well as the ability and understanding of photography.
- Demonstrated ability in managing and implementing media and related public relations strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with First Nations communities and service providers.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills that promote mutually beneficial and respectful professional relationships.
- Practical knowledge of federal, provincial and aboriginal organizations.
- Professional commitment, flexibility and good problem and dispute resolution skills.
- Ability to balance competing priorities and to work under pressure.
- Ability to maintain a healthy working relationship with staff, community representatives/members and representatives of other organizations.
- Must maintain the confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients, staff and Stó: lō Service Agency.

- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License
- Must successfully pass the required pre-employment RCMP Criminal records Check.
**Salary**: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
