Facilities Lead Hand

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities Lead Hand is responsible for organizing the daily duties of facility operations staff, including mentoring and oversight of part-time and seasonal staff. This position will be primarily based out of the Health and Active Living Plaza, with a strong emphasis on pool operations.
The Facilities Lead Hand will:
- Support the Supervisor with ensuring regulatory requirements are satisfied.
- Maintain up-to-date records of standard operating procedures.
- Liaise with contractors and troubleshoot for repairs, replacements, call outs for all Mechanical and Electrical, Refrigeration Plant and Life Safety Systems_._
- Responsible for all aspects of work related to the day-to-day operations of recreation facilities, including arena and/or pool maintenance and general cleaning and upkeep of a recreation community facility.
- Perform pool operations duties including chemical balancing, cleaning deck area, and maintains records according to health legislation.
- Maintain a functional pool pumproom ensuring filters are backwashed, pump filter baskets are clear, chlorine pumps are functional, lines are clean, chemical controllers are calibrated and functioning, pump room is kept clear of debris, materials are stocked, available and in their labeled area.
- Conducts regular ice maintenance including: operation of an ice re-surfacer to scrape, and flood ice surfaces; ice-resurfacer circle checks; blade replacement; ice thickness testing and analysis; and edging perimeter of ice surface.
- Performs regular inspections of refrigeration plant, boiler systems, eye wash stations, building alarm systems, emergency lighting, fire safety, defibrillator and other safety signs and equipment, ice re-surfacer, maintaining logs/records as required and recommending upgrading and/or replacing equipment as necessary.
- Coordination of daily work activities of facility operations staff, including scheduling and shift coverage.
- Assume “Active Supervisor” role/duties in the absence of the Supervisor.
Other requirements include:
- Ability to prioritize work and multitask while at the same time meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of building systems including: electrical; plumbing; energy management; refrigeration; HVAC; fire monitoring and suppression systems and devices; and related fire safety plans.
- Working knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians With a Disability Act (AODA); Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS); Ontario Building Code; Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA); Fire Code; Electrical Code; Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Health Promotion and Protection Act; etc.
- Computer literacy utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
**Salary Range**:$72,925- $85,795 per annum
