Join Our Team as a Full-Time Operations Manager in York, ON
Your Mission:
As the Operations Manager for our York facility you will be responsible for all activities at the site including operational and financial performance, managing stakeholder relationships, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality), seeking commercial opportunities and direct leadership of Maintenance and Process Leaders.
Here’s what an ordinary day of work might look like:
- Overseeing daily plant operations, including feedstock reception, digestion, gas upgrading, and digestate handling, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Monitoring and analyzing operational data to identify efficiency improvements, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous process optimization.
- Leading and supporting your team through coaching conversations, performance evaluations, and succession planning, ensuring each member has a clear development path.
- Ensuring compliance with SHEQ regulations, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture among employees and visitors.
- Collaborating with Finance to prepare and manage the site’s annual budget, aiming to meet or exceed financial targets.
- Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, municipalities, and suppliers, representing the company at public events.
- Collaborating with the Operations Process Engineering Manager, National Manager of System and Infrastructure Maintenance and Waste Treatment Technologies (WTT) to optimize and continuously improve the operation of the facility.
- Encouraging knowledge sharing and team cohesiveness, breaking down barriers and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
This job is for you if you:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a science-related field such as biology, chemistry, or environmental engineering.
- Bring 7 years of experience in similar roles, including 5 years in leadership, where you've successfully guided teams and operations.
- Demonstrate Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, SCADA, and ERP platforms at an intermediate level.
- Have a proven ability to develop and lead annual plans that drive performance and align with strategic goals.
- Possess intermediate knowledge of financial and contract management, enabling you to manage budgets and vendor relationships effectively.
- Understand market dynamics and external forces that influence business decisions and company direction.
- Are familiar with corporate law and management best practices, ensuring compliance and sound governance.
- Have industrial or processing plant experience, with a strong technical grasp of operations and maintenance.
- Are experienced in environmental, health, and safety permitting, ensuring regulatory compliance and a safe workplace.
- Have hands-on experience operating an Organic Waste Management Facility.
- Hold a valid Driver's License.
