Digital Learning Content Coordinator

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Online Technology, the Digital Learning Content Coordinator is responsible for developing, editing and revising technical documentation for external and internal audiences across a variety of communication channels (websites, guides, handouts, etc), using a variety of media (video guides/tutorials, graphical, text and mixed media). This position will also support the creation and maintenance of TLS website content, documentation, articles, and instruction sets by working in close collaboration with TLS Communications Officer. This includes supporting all facets of TLS extensive educational technology suite, the Experiential Learning Hub, Future Learning Lab, and working with learning space teaching technologies.
Digital Learning is a unit within the Office of the Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) at Carleton University that is dedicated to the support of teaching excellence at Carleton University. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive range of pedagogical and technological teaching tools and resources to faculty, instructors and teaching assistants to ensure an exceptional learning experience for students in the classroom and beyond
**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:
- Working knowledge of HTML code and coding elements.
- Experience working in a professional office environment.
- Evidence of experience using complex technologies.
- Initiative and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Good judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, tact and discretion.
- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to coordinate competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- A positive attitude and dedication to learning.
- Experience with learning management systems and content management platforms.
- Experience with educational technologies, such as Poll Everywhere, Zoom, Mahara (e-Portfolio software), H5P, and Kaltura Capture.
- Knowledge and extensive experience with Web Performance tools and processes: such as SEO tagging, Accessibility (AODA, Level AAA and WCAG guidelines) tagging; Google Analytics and performance analytics
- Knowledge of immersive and simulation technologies (XR).
- Knowledge of classroom AV teaching technologies.
- Experience with screen capture tools to make technical video demonstrations and short video tutorials.
- Experience with online graphic design tools.
- Experience with WordPress and web design platforms.
- Knowledge of Mac and PC environments.
- Experience with web conferencing tools, such as Zoom and MSTeams.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Enthusiasm to learn a range of new technologies and share expertise.
**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:
- A 4-year Hons. Bachelor’s degree with a preference in communication disciplines; Certificate in Technical Writing preferred. Equivalencies may be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing, education, training, educational technology, instructional design, or a related field.
