We are looking for a buyer who has the ability to multi-task, set priorities, work effectively under pressure and likes challenges of working in a highly engineered product environment. As a buyer you will manage end to end procurement to pay process. Your proven capability of building effective working relationships with stakeholders will contribute to your success in performing supplier relationship management, setting expectations, providing feedback and obtaining information on pricing trends and negotiated savings.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)_**
- Review daily purchase reports and place orders based on current and future demand
- Know the commodity and understand cost drivers to deliver cost targets. Develop, maintain and execute a commodity strategy
- Procure build-to-print components, expedite deliveries, and always maintain open purchase order module ensuring accurate delivery dates and quantities, while maintaining optimum inventory levels
- Handle correspondence concerning over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, and prices and report such changes to the applicable parties in a timely manner as required
- Build supplier relationship and act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement related and/or technical issues
- Monitor supplier performance by ensuring product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements are met and that supplier is aware of their performance
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing other job-related tasks as needed; enabling other workers to achieve their job objectives
- Lead/support VA/VE projects and negotiate cost to reduce cost of our products
- Interface with sales, project managers, engineering, planning/scheduling, and QA
- Track, manage, and improve KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)

EDUCATION_**_, SKILLS_**_ AND EXPERIENCE_**:

- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain management and/or a Purchasing related discipline. Mechanical or Industrial engineering preferred but not required
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Tactical and Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, Negotiation and/or Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with adept knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Power Point and Excel
- Experience utilizing multiple approaches to achieve cost reduction, participated/lead negotiations, design changes, and joint supplier programs
- Exhibits eagerness to acquire leadership skills with ability to motivate oneself and foster individual professional development.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including active listening, identifying the issue, and driving solutions.
- Highly results driven with the ability to demonstrate supplier improvement and implement cost reduction programs.
- Self-starter, possessing a high degree of self-motivation, creative in nature with the ability to think outside of the box while remaining one step ahead of the problem.
- Ability to take an organized approach, set priorities, identify risks and opportunities, manage resources, milestones, and costs
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal and intercultural sensitivity with the ability to work with suppliers across the globe
- Experienced in working with global supply base and ability to maintain relationship and communication with suppliers in low cost countries
- Knowledge of lean methodologies and logistics management
- Technical (Eng) - ability to read drawings would be an asset
